Tig welding projects

So i have access to a tig welder at school, so i plan to learn how to tig weld by doing some simple projects, but not shure what.

Anybody have ideas for cool stuff i should try to make?

Currently fabbing up an itb setup, planning on making an airbox and maby a filter box too, to keep things nice and cool.

weld 2 pop/beer cans together, then consider other things.

I think air/filter box would be better made of plastic or composite (better insulation and probably lighter) and you should concentrate on things more suitable to aluminum material.

Like maybe an engine bay brace that spans the towers and goes back to the firewall.
Given the wide range of aluminum extrusions and shapes available you could really go nuts.

My fc is a 6hour drive away from where i live and go to school, so can't make anything that means i need access to the fc.

+ I'm probably going to make the air box out of aluminum, i am aware it might not be the best solution, but i am more interested in learning to weld aluminum, than making the best possible intake.

Still appreciate your input, would like to make an carbon air box, but that is something i might try at a later time.

Doesn't the airbox have to fit the far distant car as well?

I'd use ABS myself.

Yhea, but i'm able to take some measurements when i go on easter vacation, when i said measurements, i meant more like the engine bay brace, wich would need to go in an out of the car during fabrication, for the air box, there realy isn't many measurements needed, just some outer boundrys, against the strut tower and hood.

How about a Roll Cage ?
That you can sell easily after your done

Would need access to the car, not aluminum, and fc's are so rare here in Norway that i doubt it would sell easy.

I made my own exhaust with a tig welder, this was my first time with a tig welder.

Now I'm trying my luck on aluminium. It's not the best looking weld so far, but that's not my point. I need it welded and I want to do it my self. And it looks solid enough :D
