Tail Light Swap! **Pictures**

Hey guys, i went to the wreckers to get a new starter for my car and found the tail lights that iv been wanting to swap into my car since i got it! They only charged me 50 dollars for both tail lights!! :D Their in great condition and the swap took under an hour.

Let me know what you think. The old tail lights were painted by the previous owner to match the car but i felt that they were just boring and plain. I think the new ones break up the colour a bit and i LOVE the circle lights :D

Love S5 tails... don't know if I'm feeling the wing. Maybe it's just the pics... idk

NEXTIME 12-12-10 10:42 AM

The wing is a little too much lol, It was all the previous owners doing. It has started to grow on me tho :P You dont ever see these cars in my area so everyone is always looking lol.

tuscanidream 12-12-10 10:57 AM

Tail lights look good!

But holy wing batman. But that next on your list! Love the color of the car with the color of the rims. :)

Ps the shaved trim actually loOks good.

NEXTIME 12-12-10 11:08 AM

Thank you tuscan! I appreciate the feed back :D

antj101 12-12-10 11:17 AM

Lol. Yeah I guess I hear ya. I think if the wing was just a little shorter in height then I'd be all for it. I love the led's on in the wing.

and if you drop it a little more on those wheels.. it'd be sick!

Looks great though

antj101 12-12-10 11:18 AM

P.s.

I want your hood!!!!!!!!!!!!!

SpeedOfLife 12-12-10 11:28 AM

shaved trim ftw, I'm in the process of doing it to my TII. the Sarona/Erebuni side skirts and rear bumper are my favorites, looking pretty good.

antj101 12-12-10 11:34 AM

For some reason I like my trim... I don't know why.. lol

rotordad 12-12-10 12:03 PM

Lights look good, the rest as long as you like it then that's what matters.

Spirit-RE 12-12-10 12:31 PM

Needs some killer stance to make the shaved look kind of work...

Glad to see your starting to de-rice it lol

Alex_n/a 12-12-10 01:23 PM

modernize them taillights :D

I like the wing, but it is about a foot too tall.

iani1.1 12-12-10 03:54 PM

still looks like a skittle...

haha..

NEXTIME 12-12-10 05:26 PM

Lol yeah i know it doesnt always mean its a good thing but i love the car! The colour is unique and the car looks like nothing around here :D Big cop magnet but ohh well lol

Nick86 12-12-10 05:35 PM

The wing is structural, he needs it to keep the rear bumper on..... without it he has nothing to hook bungee cords to!

Where in Ontario are you?

NEXTIME 12-12-10 05:58 PM

Lol! thats the day i bought the car. The previous owner was using the cords so that side of the bumper wasnt hanging. I secured the bumper by self tho without those ghetto cords so i can take it for quick runs around the block lol. Im located in burlington ontario

iani1.1 12-12-10 06:16 PM

i think better offset wheels and a kit with the trim molded i think would look better. the trim then no trim side from the front just looks... eh, just doesnt flow lol

haha yea, pretty much

Renton 12-12-10 06:57 PM

An S5 Light swap totally deserves it's own thread. This thread is skittles.

NEXTIME 12-12-10 07:03 PM

Renton - If you don't like it, dont post here. I was happy about the swap and the deal i got. I wanted feedback and to show members on the forums what iv done. Im sorry this wasn't some sort of turbo thread or huge expensive build thread! But thanks for the feedback!

GordiniRX7 12-12-10 08:42 PM

I don't want to butt in but... I will. You took two pictures, one of before and one of after, of a subject and process that has been covered hundreds of times. To me, it looks like you're just trying to show off your car that you bought in the almost exact same shape. Just make a "Look at the pictures of my bought, not built, car," and stop trying to hide behind the "Tail light swap ***two pictures***" thread title.

In my honest opinion, I think the car needs quite a bit of work to look good. But replacing the tails is a good start. So kudos to you.
I got a longgg wayyy until i get close to that.

Good luck, not trying to be an ass.

NEXTIME 12-12-10 08:53 PM

Im not trying to show off my car. There is nothing to show off. I was super happy about getting rid of the old shitty tail lights and finding s5's for the price/condition they were in. If i was trying to show off the car i would have claimed the work done to it myself. The car is no where near nice. It needs more body work than you know. The car is pretty much stock except for the exterior. Its what i could afford at the time and im happy with it. Last time i checked, "pictures" meant more than one. There is more than one. Hence the title of the thread. Sorry you guys feel that way and have bad feed back towards me. I thought this forum was for posting progress and discussing things about our cars? Correct me if im wrong?

lunardeathgod 12-12-10 09:47 PM

that is a huge wing...

Alex_n/a 12-12-10 10:35 PM

swapping taillights does not deserve a thread, if it was something unique then yeah thread worthy. that's what renton and gordinirx7 are trying tell you. they are not trying to offend you and yes this is a place to discuss things.

Rob XX 7 12-13-10 09:22 AM

nextime- rock on man

get rid of the wing, period, and think about a color change

Nismo Convert86 12-13-10 06:36 PM

LMFAO:lol:

I wasn't, really. Just my two cents. I know what you mean by buying what you can afford(see "progress" thread). So more power to you.

killalot13601 12-13-10 07:58 PM

Nice upgrade, keep going and build a car that suits YOU, not tards on this board.

just startn 12-13-10 11:01 PM

Good start, Take the wing off, get a chizel and take all the bondo out of the molding strip, spend a few weeks re-working the body line, put some nice moldings back on, get a lip or at least scrape all the over spray off the thing thats on there. Lower it more. these are all things that can be done with just a couple bucks and some labor.

wjk0817 12-14-10 02:48 AM

good move on the taillights, the paint is like the honda paints no?

Im not 100% sure what paint it is to be honest.. :P

JCurry 12-14-10 08:34 PM

looks like the teal that i always see on Civics

Hypertek 12-15-10 10:40 PM

It is a start.

Unless you like the wing and molded in look or got the car for a killer deal, you probably could have started off with buying a different/stock car and been better off to your project goals.

RE Drifter 12-16-10 12:24 AM

That must be your first car, I didn't know people still bought ugly shit! I'm not being mean, just helpful, murder that shit out and make it a missile car that's the best thing you can do.

rotordad 12-16-10 12:30 AM

To be honest man take you time mod the car you want & be happy!

jerd_hambone 12-16-10 01:49 AM

Like Dad said. Make the car how you want. Don't listen to other peoples criticism. If you want to spend a fortune on stickers and such, do it.

Because in the end, you are happy with the car, even if no one else is.

We are all pretty biased to our own opinion over here. Haha

iamxeddiex 12-16-10 10:02 PM

To be honest, I liked the painted s4's next to the huge wing.

warlock78 12-19-10 03:54 AM

good start, man. I've been doing the same for the last 3 years. little bit here, little bit there. keep at it, but build it for you, not for the masses!!!

At least hes making a thread in the 2nd gen non-tech forum. This sub-forum is so inactive yet is one of my favorite sub-forums content wise.
