Steering wheels

Just curious, what do you guys have/suggest for steering wheels in your FC's?

I want to replace mine, it came with the car...

Spirit-RE 03-03-11 11:09 AM

Get a good brand name one, not some knockoff shitty looking wheel...

Mine is a MOMO Wheel, but I think it looks shitty regardless. I was looking at Nardi Wheels earlier today, but don't have the money because I'm rebuilding my FC...

I'm debating which to use, the RE-A one still has plastic on the button.

+1 on a Momo Monte Carlo, I like mine

I like the momo, I do not like hubs though, when you are used to the car with the stock wheel for so long the hubs take some getting used to. My convertible momo is a mazda oem so it has no hub, but after a few years now I want something a little bit thicker, but it feels really nice
When I owned my coupe at the same time the difference from one with the hub to without was noticeable for me

chatchie 03-04-11 09:03 PM

I didnt know FD wheels were straight bolt on. Good shit.

+1 for fd wheels it fits perfect. i also have a nardi

i had to remove the turn signal cancel (white plastic piece in the center) for the fd wheel to fit my fc column?
so i have to manally cancel the turn signal now. no biggie, n/a daily has same prob lol

DC 91 fc3s 03-06-11 04:04 AM

the NRG ones are pretty solid compared to cheapy ebay or autozone wheels... they dont bend or flex when you push or pull on it... and im sure much safer too

heres a picture of mine: black nrg wheel with red stitching and mazdaspeed horn button

The wheel itself is a direct bolt in piece but you won't have any horn.
FDs use a clockspring set up to carry signals from the wheel to the column, FCs use a simple slip ring.

The slip ring is easily adaptable to the FD hub and the horn can be made functional.
BTW, the 929 wheel from certain years is very similar (and possibly better looking) to the FD wheel.

Love my benetton formula 1 horn button though, pretty rare.

I want a Nardi wheel.

Im curious what a classic wood steering wheel would look like in a fc.

airquin23 03-06-11 05:18 PM

Nardi 350mm. Mmm yes feels so good! Perfect size imo.

Ignore my super fly interior. It's a deep dish OMP I got it second hand, so I'm not sure what model.

NCross 03-06-11 06:54 PM

I put my extra 79 wheel in my 90. Looks great and is OEM so it feels right. Slightly smaller and thinner than the s5 wheel so it feels a lot sportier. No good pictures of it installed, but this is my 79...

rxspeed7 03-06-11 08:57 PM

Momo Corse, it is a little thicker than normal momo's but it still has a very nice feel.
