Sleepy eyed FC....

I've been debating on doing this simple mod every since I started on this car a month ago. I've read all the threads of debate and the conclusion I came too was the old school guys hate it and the newer age crew loves it. From the pictures I've seen of it done on fc's kinda left me on the fence on whether I liked it or not. So anyways I decided to give it a go and see how it looked in person and I love it. :icon_tup:

glad you like it, good height too, some people do it way too high and it looks bad
typically looks good when the car is low

I agree the height is just right. Any higher just doesn't look right.

I'm not a sleepy eye guy, but they look good on some cars. It does look good on your car.

im an old school guy and imho it looks like shit, its not practical.

but if you were to modify them to have the devil eye look with the sleepy eye i think it would look alright. they just plain look better on a s13

lowjack7 06-02-10 02:15 AM

MORISAKI 06-02-10 02:20 AM

this looks really nice with the first generation NSX headlights in place ....ive seen it done to an older model supra and it looked very good ....

Battle Cat 06-02-10 02:29 AM

magus2222 06-02-10 02:59 AM

Why do we have to have one of these threads every single month. Since I've been on this forum I've seen at least 35 of these threads
sleepy eye has 0 use and looks fucking retarded. Fix it, besides, it's not even legal in Cali to modify your headlights

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but honestly people on forums make me laugh. I always see this this stupid ass comment it's not legal, blah blah blah! Really how much shit on our cars are completely legal & if it's not your car why does it matter you are not paying the fines. As far as the lights go not my thing like I said above, but they can look decent.

RCFC89 06-02-10 12:42 PM

The negative feedback was expected so no hurt feelings here. This is a more popular trend with the younger generations which here at this site is mostly an older group. And unfortunately a few that have to stroke there egos by rudely voicing their opinons. Concerning practicality this car only comes out on nice sunny days and wont see darkness at least not until next winter. It easy to return to stock so not a concern. Its my build and I like it so thats all that really matters. Cheers

I'm not sure why you break the groups into "old school" and "newer age crew", age has nothing to do with it. I would have used the following categories, "People who like broken/malfunctioning headlights" and "People who don't".

How people see broken headlights as "stylish" is absolutely beyond me. If you think about how the "sleepy" look came about, it probably went something like this:

"Fuck! My headlights are broken...shit"
"I'd fix them but I'm too lazy, '4 realz yo'"
"Damn..they really are broken aren't they?"

A few weeks later...

"Well looking at it now, it's really not that bad. Are they really that bad?"

Another few weeks later...

"You know these look pretty good. They're actually 'my style'. I created this style. I'm creative. I should take pictures on post them on the forum to show other people my sick new style."

If you think about it, do you really want to belong to that crowd?

Didn't sleepy eyes get started from some ghey ass ballet dancer who thought he could drive as pretty as he danced. He found that going sideways in your car was not the best way to get air into the engine compartment, but when he raised his headlights it allowed more air in. Then Santa Claus found out and figured since Elves are so close to being ghey that he should support the Ghey and Elf Associaiton. So he started giving out sleepy eye kits at Xmas time. Well this did not sit well with the Easter Bunny. The Easter Bunny is already low on self-esteem from being a cute little fluffy thing he couldn't stomach the idea of Santa cornering the Ghey Elf Drift Alliance. So the Easter Bunny started leaving Easter Eggs with sleepy eyes. So then the Tooth Fairy was out to lunch with the Easter Bunny and they got to talking about sleepy eyes. The Tooth Fairy said, "Damn that looks ugly as fuck man" but then paused and after some consideration said "But you know, kids missing teeth is pretty ugly too, so maybe if I gave the kids something more ugly than a missing tooth then the missing tooth won't look so bad in comparison?" So the Tooth Fairy started leaving sleepy eyes under the sleepy eyed kids pillows. And thus little children grew up thinking if they got them for free then they must be cool...and thus sleepy eyes were born!!

True story

Seriously tho..I think sleepy eyes did come out of drifting. A driver modded his headlights to get more air thru the intake cause he wasn't driving forward. Oh and don't put too much to my creative writing above. Sleepy eyes are not my thing, but i'm not into telling people what they should or shouldn't do with their property :)
