Project: Sabine
I've only just realized that I have yet to post a real pictures/info thread on my secondary ride.
Her name is Sabine. She's an '88 GXL bathed in Arctic Silver. Take a gander at the odometer. :) http://i146.photobucket.com/albums/r...l/DSCN4671.jpg http://i146.photobucket.com/albums/r...l/DSCN4664.jpg http://i146.photobucket.com/albums/r...l/DSCN4642.jpg http://i146.photobucket.com/albums/r...l/DSCN4668.jpg This is before I cleaned the interior up. http://i146.photobucket.com/albums/r...l/DSCN4639.jpg The only problem, as you can see, is that it's automatic. That's quite alright...it's not staying. I'm very thankful that I've got another FC with a proper gearbox to drive as well..:icon_tup: She's already got the 'vert wheels and the S5 mirrors...next on the list will be the Racing Beat exhaust and the suspension from my other FC. |
that is a clean Fc but i never knew they had fc's in auto...that is lame.. hope the Project goes well!
|
I really need to give her a bath and a good buff (The hood especially needs more attention from me and a pack of 2,000 grit...don't ask..). But yeah she's pretty clean...several paint problems though.
FCs did have the option for an automatic. This particular transmission is really very miserable.. the kickdown and vacuum solenoids on the transmission have packed up. |
The interior is much happier now since I installed a new blue warning light surround.
She'll be getting the entire Racing Beat exhaust from my other car, the suspension (KYB AGX + RB Springs) from my other car, the stereo system from my other car, the S5 radio surround from my other car, the dual alt. pulley from my other car and possibly the radiator from my other car. |
cool. might wanna get those rotors resurfaced
|
Thats sweet! Thats the exact same shell I have it was an auto, an 88 and everything. the clutch dif is awesome btw.
Thats also about the same amount of miles that were on mine. However i bought it without an engine and trans. They were ripped out to be put into an airplane. how much did you pick that up for? |
clean wish i had those miles.
|
nice pick up man! so what happened to your other car since your switching eveything over?
|
Yeah those rotors look like crap, but they're not warped in the least! Not too much pad life left..maybe 10,000 more miles...but I'm not too worried about it.
76,000 miles is a massive difference from the 190,000 on my other GXL. Just in the entire attitude of the chassis and the feel of every piece...it's so much newer that it almost scares me. The exhaust and suspension on Sabine will be swapped over to Grace (My other FC) once I pull the RB exhaust and suspension off of Grace to install on the lower mileage car. It will be stock again. At that point, I will begin rattle clearing panels of the blue car, wet sanding and buffing individually as funds allow to try and make it look halfway decent. It will never be right, though. All that the clear and extra work will do is make that shitty paint job look slightly better. If at that point, once the work is done and I still hate the car...she'll be sold. I would have never even considered buying Sabine if the paint job had been done to the standards agreed upon on my other car. I don't even like the color at all anymore...it's totally ruined for me. So I went back to a color...a stock color...that I used to dislike because I wanted a shade of blue instead. I drooled over a friends car for the longest time. Once I had gotten my car back and it looked like it does...Arctic Silver immediately struck me as what I had been missing. I wish I had just left the car faded Sunrise Red. Anyways, I assisted a friend of mine (Only a little) in replacing his clutch and whatnot. The swap on Sabine should go over pretty smoothly. Just waiting on funds to buy a clutch kit and obtaining a suitable piece of channel to make the crossmember adapter. |
Wow those vert wheels look good on that color- did they come with the car too?
|
Don't pretend you have no idea where those wheels came from. lol
