bikeboy23332, your interior is awesome! is that the original radio surround?

gsantyr 06-27-11 09:25 AM

Need more pics of double din touch screen systems with info on ease of installation and price.

magus2222 06-27-11 11:58 AM

ill tell you this much, a double din (specially that alpine) is not an easy 10 minute install. youre talking at least 2 hours of work, assuming you dont need to run extra wires for anything like gps or sat radio.
that alpine (at least the INA-W900BT) has a ton of seperate modules for everything that requires extra space and wiring, taking a bit more time and careful planning.
here is a pic of my setup, cant remember the model of the alpine though......i fucking love it! ipod control in the glovebox, easy to use, looks awesome and performs awesome as well.

heres another view, without the crown royal shift boot

again, dont remember the model, buts an older model.....but goddamn i love it!
alpine til i die, nothing even comes close to their quality, ease of use, and price!

I installed a Dual HD7714. It was the only deck I could find that had HD radio, Bluetooth, USB and Aux inputs as well as iPod hookups. I recently added an old XM radio that I had laying around and installed it inside the ash tray area. I wanted a place where I could hide it but also be able to remove it if I want to use it elsewhere from time to time. My next audio upgrade will be to add an external amp to boost the power and perhaps add some additional speakers. Verts are tough on sound.

how does the HD radio sound? same antenna?

Rob it sounds really good. I have an XM antenna that I mounted just above the windshield on the drivers side and ran the wire under the door weather seal and ultimately under the dash over to the ashtray opening. I hard wired it to the cigarette lighter for instant on power. The radio will transmit via FM modulation but I have found over the years you get much better sound using the AUX input to run the sound through the head unit. If I did not already have this radio sitting around, I might have bought an XM ready head unit but getting the other features I wanted would have been very difficult.

Mine relocated to glove box instead of cutting up the carbon dash panel, with integrated iPhone dock in the lid
