pic request...what have u done with your trim

well im missing a trim piece on my door and i was wanting to see what itd look like if i just took off the door trim and sanded it down some and painted it..or anything similar would be good just want some ideas

Personally, on an otherwise stock body FC, no side molding looks like hell - makes the car look like a jellybean. Sure, If you have a widebody or some kit, then the trim isn't needed as much, but I don't like it without trim.

It's all about personal taste though, some people love it.

Very ugly, IMO. It makes the car look fat.

2g3n7 11-08-10 10:33 PM

overpaid4myfc 11-09-10 01:52 PM

lol i second the jellybean theory

rotordad 11-09-10 04:30 PM

Stock body needs the trim for a finished look IMO.

iani1.1 11-09-10 04:33 PM

I took my trim off of both sides and switched to S5 bumper and sidemarker trim, but no trim in front of, behind, or on the doors. (if that makes sense.)

Edit: Forgot pics. Sorry, She's dirty.

2g3n7 11-11-10 04:09 PM

doesnt make sense...post some pics and that'll explain it a little better i think lol

DaBrkddy 11-11-10 04:19 PM

Edited my last post with pics. Make sense now?

2g3n7 11-11-10 04:29 PM

matter fact its exactly the answer i was looking...do u like urs like that ?

DaBrkddy 11-11-10 04:34 PM

Yes, I love it.

2g3n7 11-11-10 04:49 PM

then i might just do that...whats the best way to get the adhesive from the trim off?

DaBrkddy 11-11-10 05:02 PM

I used a scraper with a razor blade in it. That crap is a pain to get off. Next I sanded it and then painted it. I wasn't worried about it looking perfect, so I didn't go too crazy with the sand paper/paint. It might be easier to get the adhesive off if you use some type of solvent.

Edit: You will probably go through a lot of razor blades btw. And wear safety glasses; those things like to go everywhere if/when they explode.

Molotovman 11-11-10 05:18 PM

Pull the middle trim off and then buy some body trim adhesive remover at your auto parts store. It won't damage your paint like scraping it off with a knife will.

DaBrkddy 11-11-10 05:34 PM

If I had known they made that at the time I would've used it! :wallbash:

all those cars look like ass becuase they are stock... stock ride height, wheels

Removing the side ones on S4 will be funky because the front and rear are black.
S4 moldings should be dime a dozen.
