speeddevil what you have is a european spec turbo II. keep in mind that here in the US the only turbo's that came with a spoiler are the 88 and the spoiler was not the sport one.

in 86 the turbo FC's were not offered, and in 87 which was teh first year for the american TII it came wingless. 88 was the year the TII aquired a spoiler and like i said it was the bigger spoiler not the sport duck wing.

i though you'd be intereted in knowing:icon_tup:

i think all FCs should have some kind of wing. this is my opinion dough:dunno:

the FC in general looks too plain without a wing almost like a base model. thats why i added the sport wing on mine. and its functional too:icon_tup:

Totally agree....a wing on an FC is like the right haircut or the right shoes...it completely makes the outfit work....and a nice wing on an FC..makes everything look soooo sleek and fast..

I had an 87 base and I thought it looked pretty good without the wing

shadow7 01-02-08 06:54 PM

speeddevil is right^^^^^

people always ask themselves why all cars that are sold in european/asian continents always come with the best options and add ons.

so i've heard that US import regulations and weight restrictions would make it hard for car manufacturers to import the vehicles, like many other car manufacturers, mazda was forced to shave off weight by not adding too many options on its vehicles to meet these regulations.
so i heard from the wise men (old men) :rlaugh:

you said it yourself it was a "base" you should have added a wing, you would have been a happier man:)

jerd_hambone 01-02-08 06:58 PM

haha, eh, I got 2 S5 GTU's now and both have wings

They are both sexy

red7rising 01-02-08 10:30 PM

Wings are the way to go....I had an 87 base model....and it looked incomplete without a wing to me...it never does look like a finished product...

yeah i totally agree...i got my wingless TII. the first thing i ever did to it was put the sport wing before i even did the oil change

They all look clean :]

TII hood without a TII motor and topmount = STUPID.

but I do love the sport wing! I have that on my '87 S4 Sport and it gives the car some character... I bought a stock aluminum NON-turbo hood for it too, super nice.
;)

Anyone have pics of the same duckbill spoiler on a convertible?

NCross 01-11-08 09:52 PM

I don't think that would work...

I've been told it would work, that there are no bolts outside of where the trunk lid would be located. It might put too much weight on the lid to use the trunk release lever. It might even put too much weight on it for the trunk to sit open without being held up.

I've got a friend who has a coupe with the duckbill spoiler and it seems like it would work. BUT...I've never seen a duckbill off a car so I don't know what the bolts pattern is, and I'd prefer to find one that is fiberglass so it can be painted the same color as the car.
