My v3 Infini
Here is my 1989 version 3 Infini RX-7. It shipped in from Japan in October 2014.
Mods as arrived include Apexi Power FC (AP FC model), ARC radiator, Attain exhaust, Profec boost controller, turbo timer, Greddy boost gauge, and rear strut bar. Currently running 1 bar on high boost setting. Pulls super smooth. It does have all the goodies that are unique to the Infini for this year. https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-Y...d4bfce40_o.jpg https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-1...o/DSC_8488.JPG https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-h...o/DSC_8439.JPG https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-x...o/DSC_8442.JPG https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-s...o/DSC_8573.JPG https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-2...o/DSC_8584.JPG More pictures here: 1989 Infini RX-7 |
May I be the first to say ,your a lucky bastard !! Lol very nice brotha look forward to future updates
Right on! Nice vehicle man!
If you decide to ditch the Power FC let me know, I'd love to get my hands on an AP Engineering Power FC. Oh, and very nice find!
Very nice man! Shade green correct? I love it. Could you do me a favor and take pics of the passenger floor mat? I have a floor bar and I want to make a custom floor mat. Just want to see how yours is! Thanks!.. and if you ever sell it, please let me know. I'd sell my fc in a heartbeat. :)
Interior pics would be nice also
I hate you with love and will admit I am jealous. If you don't mind my asking, how was the import process and what did it end up totaling to get to your driveway?

Door Panel. Notice how it has the same suede material as the seats. https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-9...129_151800.jpg Knee Pads https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-S...129_151844.jpg https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-a...129_151901.jpg Pass Side Floor Mat https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/--...o/DSC_8466.JPG Infini Floor Mat https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-D...129_151915.jpg The pass side mat top part unsnaps from the lower then it slides out from under the bar. https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-H...129_152408.jpg |
So what are the laws to import such rides into the U.S. Now . Older then 25 and it's cool ?

Vehicles over 25 years do not have to conform to federal vehicle safety standards for the year the vehicle was manufactured. These standards include side front amber reflective markers, rear red side reflective markers, door crash bars (j-spec FCs have hollow doors), 3rd brake light at the top center, front bumper crash bar strength, head lamp display angle and direction, and other items. Vehicles over 21 years do not have to conform to EPA standards. This means they do not have to conform to standards of vehicles of the particular year that the vehicle was manufactured. IE, 96+ required OBD2, etc. |
Well the awesome to know . I registered my 87 as a antique a few weeks ago . No more emissions or anything and renew tags every 5 yrs here in Texas
Gahhhh those floor mats and the stock head unit! This is amazing. What are your plans? Congrats on finding a survivor.

Very Clean, there is a RDH FC up here in New England but its too rich for my blood. Asking is 16k OBO
what are those box thingies? on the driver side of the console, and lower, driver door
Those are knee pads for those big g's in the corners
really nice dude hope to see that at the meet sometime this year lol
I will be at the East Coast Rotary Classic in June. Event: https://www.facebook.com/events/578267658970838/
Yes, those are the knee pads, but I don't quite find them usable. The left pad barely touches a few inches below my knee and the right pad does not touch at all. I am 5' 10". Maybe the stature of the Japanese folks were more suitable. |
I'll be at that show too! Hope to see your car!
I NEED to get my hands on those pedals, pads, and passenger foot bar. But seats are the biggest to do next year! |
oooo very nice!
Even though the aluminum pedals weren't infini specific, they're still really rare. I've seen maybe 3 sets for sale in the past 5 years. I got my set on ebay for like $120ish. Got super lucky, dead pedal and all.
If anyone comes across a pair let me know. I have always wanted them. I would say 120 is a STEAL. last pair I saw on eBay I bid up to 150 and the final price was 275$ I was floored haha
That is beautiful.. Im jealous!
Very nice car man ! I was just speaking with a Rivsu rep at the Pre-24 Classic Mazda meet last month about the 25 year rule. Should be interesting in the next 5 years to see how many S5 FC's,FD's, R33's, etc pop up on the streets here in Florida.
Yeah. Beyond stoked. I have seen like 8 different R32s since they passed up here I. MA
You got a really sweet deal on this Infini. Most cars I've seen coming to the states imported have needed some serious body work. You must have had one hell of a dealer!
The car came from Garage-R, a specialty shop. http://www.garage-r.co.jp/src/search...0638&shop=1688
It was still a good bit of money, but I just had to. The car was repainted once and there are still sanding marks visible in the paint from going too quick. It also has rust in an unusual spot. It's at the top of the quarter panels above both rear wheels, inside the lip for the hatch. |
That's an odd spot but water and humidity can do crazy things. My Camry had a whole car paint job for 3 years and it looked fantastic. and I took it off the road in April when picked it back up from my parents house in October the paint had peeled on the trunk, hood, and roof due to the rain heat and humidity
I know of quite a few people who bought cars from them, and when I was initially looking for an fc I was talking to them. Ended up going through a guy at the auctions. Took 5 months to get the perfect one but it worked out.
Easy fix though on that rust. Good to see that you didn't get taken advantage of with your purchase. Those guys at GarageR seem to be pretty forthcoming with all their information. |
Beautiful car! I tried to buy a 1989 Infini here in Japan, but the owner didn't wanna sell it (even though I haven't seen the car move…ever). I managed to buy the original BBS wheels off of it though
I gotta see this thing in person man! So damn nice.
-M |
Daaaang thats sweet
I believe those wheels were made by BBS but am unsure of the name, does anyone know where I might find a pair, or an equivalent set?
Those would be 'knee pads' !
They are made by BBS and are the 16" version of the convertible wheels. A very popular upgrade.
Thank you! Do you know equivalent seats to the FC's 'Efini' edition seats?
