My Rebuild
I just finished rebuilding a 13bt that I'm swapping into my 86' Gxl. I've never worked on a piston motor, so I wouldn't know which one is easier to rebuild. But I must say after seeing all the parts that go into the rotary engine I really came to appreciate the engineering that wen into these motors!! I know understand whats going on in the engine a bit more and what each component does. If you ever get the chance rebuild your engine, you will feel very proud. Now lets hope my car runs well :)

Niiiiiiiiiiice! Gunmetal and Red... looks awesome! Did ya port it? I'm rebuilding mine, er, having it rebuilt, and can't decide if i want to port it or not. It's gotta be my DD for at least two more years till I graduate and get a real job finally, so I don't want a blown up motor in a year. On the other hand, I don't expect it to blow up and could really use the extra horsepower.... my two cents...
edit: need the extra horsepower edit2: want the extra horsepower |
i like that paint a lot :icon_tup:
hmm, i'm also curious to whether you ported it. |
Nope, was going to but bitched out.

I'm going to run stock turbo with rtek 1.8. Later move on to bnr turbo.

Good for you. :) Any more info on the parts/seals etc. you used? Did you use a video to help? Either way, congrats on the first build!

I used atkins apex seals, fd corner seal, new corner seal plugs, oem coolant seals, ect. I didnt but the kit, I just ordered what I needed. I'm not a baller so I used Kevin Landers write-up on rebuilding engine, and it helped seeing what could be reused. I also purchased a Bruce Turrentine video, which really helped allot. I set up tv in the garage (my stepdaughters Dora the Explorer t.v). And just followed step by step.
