Molded in Triple Gauge Pillar Pod: Project Complete and then Broken...a little.

So this is something that I started back in 2007 as I was planning to reproduce to sell on ebay etc and never got around to it. Well I finished frenching it in today, and then I dropped it and chipped the corner off where it meets the B pillar... UGGh.. Unfortunately the little part that broke shattered into a million peices and was not salvageable so I will have to try and fix it with fiberglass..

I may go ahead and make a fiberglass mold for this when I fix the corner incase there is ever a market for them. Looks much better than a half fitting universal deal.

Let me know your thoughts.

Looks good.... I've been trying for ever to find a decent pillar pod. In the I just bought mounting "cups"

Looks pretty good. Is it just the angle of the camera or does it not fully cover the a-pillar at the 2nd mount? Definitely better than stick/screw/glue/whatever on mounts.

It does fully cover, I just didn't snap it all the way on becuase I was going to have to pull it right back off to fix it.

I'm very interested. Especially since it's for an S5.

I really like what you did with that and would like one as well, if you dont end up making them I may try to make one myself, any helpful hints are appreciated lol..

You make I buy.

That looks great! I'm in if you decide to start making them. Hell, I'm in if you DON'T start mass producing them. :) I've always liked the detail you put into your work, and this is no different!

MaczPayne 01-11-12 01:47 AM

Mmmm, I see something great happening soon :)

I'm tired of my rinky-dink gauge pod that doesn't fit nice on my a pillar :(

Bamato 01-11-12 10:25 AM

Oh man, an S5 gauge pillar!

Cool. You're making it for the Vert first, right?

The main reason people say 'oh no cant do it' with the auto belts is that most pillar pods have to screw into the existing pillar trim. In the case of the S5 auto belt trim, you would have 2 screws located RIGHT in the track runners. Whats done here is eliminated the need for those screws while hopefully retaining the stock locating clips.

Looks good for the prototype

Nice. I like it.

Would this work on an S4 cuz I'd be in on it, if you're still making them/have made them already.

RRTEC 09-12-12 07:57 AM

I sold the original with the car I built it for.. But the process was simple for a diy person.. I can explain if needed.

A detailed explanation would be awesome!
