Mazdatrix Engine & swap Q's

Hey guys,

I am looking to swap in a 13b-rew into my FC and im weighing up a couple options. First of all i have a local shop that i know could do a nice build for me. Im looking to build up a street ported engine and shoot for about 350 at the wheels.

I've been researching engines online and Mazdatrix seem to have some pretty reasonable re-build prices even including new rotors, rotor housings, side housings and e-shaft. I know Mazdatrix is a great company but i cant say i've read about anyone that has bought one of their engines. Their build price and build "level" quoted on the site with full street porting, fits within my budget but seeing as im still pretty new to the game, i wanted so see if anyone has had personal first hand experience with one of their builds.

They also come in quite a bit cheaper than my local shop, but the guys here have 2 or 3 race built 7's and i have somewhat of a hookup with the owner. (Price would still be quite a bit higher than mazdatrix.)

Looking to see if anyone has info on numbers and longevity of one of their engines. I know you've got to pay to play but if i can get a comparable or better build for less from mazdatrix then id be happy!

Also, i've been toying with the idea of going with a twin turbo setup on the REW. I wouldnt be keeping the oem turbo's obviously, id be looking into some nice garrett's or something. Again, being so new to the rotary scene i think i've seen only one FD show car that went this route but i havent been able to find any useful specs on it.

Again, i have the budget for a twin turbo setup but would like to know if its worthwhile seeing as everyone generally rocks the single turbo. Id love to do it and try and squeeze some lower end power out of the engine.

Thanks in advance

i've seen a few mazdatrix engines, hard to tell apart from a factory build...

one would assume that most of their engines are sold locally too

I've heard great things from them. Just check out Kyle's drift car.

Rew? I wouldn't mess with it. Engine mounts are further back on it and you have to make some stuff. I don't see the gains of a Rew being worth all the work involved, over just a regular 13b. This is all just my opinion, and just giving you something to think about.

Yeah i figured they knew what they were doing as they have kyle drifting for them but wanted to see how they held up in day to day use.

As for the mounts being different, my local shop has said that in the past they have drilled the intermediate housing to be able to use the stock FC mount locations. I know this has been done before by people in other builds but how solidly does it hold up?

Also i've read about a company called motivefab that sold REW mounts for the FC but their website is offline.

I understand that you have to go front mount and the sensors and cooling piping is all different but hopefully shouldn't be too big of a problem as i have a front mount ready for it and will be running microtech and im sure i can figure something out for the cooling situation. Any other particular common issues like this you guys can think of?

Thanks for the info guys.
