looking into some rims

Hey guys

im in the market to get some new rims for the FC i still have 4 lugs..
what im looking for are no bigger than 16in rims but as wide as possible what the max width i can find in a 16in rim you think?

rotordad 07-28-10 04:23 PM

Well I think you asked the wrong question. Maybe the how wide you can go? Have you searched the FS section? What style of wheel are you looking for? (lip, no lip, ect.) Be more specific in what you are looking for, it makes it easier for others to help you. BTW whta's the price range you are looking to spend on wheels?

will stick out past fender unless stretch and lots of camber

finishline 07-28-10 05:35 PM

rock some Enkei 92's.

i'd purposely rock a base model FC just to get another choice of wheels in the 4 bolt world.

rotordad 07-28-10 05:42 PM

Enkei 92's very nice, I think most mesh wheels would look good.

Are you kidding me? As stated, that would stick out way too far from the stock fender unless you flare the body, stretch the tire, and/or run excessive negative camber. And if you're going to do all that just to run an "aggressive" offset wheel, why not go wider towards the center of the car some more since the OP wants to go as wide as possible?

s2kguy17 07-29-10 12:54 AM

Hey he said wide, so I'm just posting a pic of them when I had it on my 240 back in the day..plus there cheap and they have higher offsets, was just helping out..

thank you and well put, since im stock. however i was hooked up with some tiens (at least thats whats written on them) the car is pretty low as it is and on really bad 18s with low pro that im just hating, so i think its time for some new shoes in the near future. so i want something smaller with more meat on them but i dont want a this tire. i guess somthing deep dishy. lol i dont know, now i feel like im getting too specific. ive seen some inexpensive sport maxxs that are pretty close to what im looking for if all.

the sportmax/xxr wheels are cheap and easy to find. brand new about 300-350 for a set. but try and search for some nice mesh like those enkei 92's. craigslist usually has some good deals on them.

rotary_bünta 08-13-10 10:39 AM

i bought the xxr 002 in black 16x8 $352 no tax out the door now just gotta get some tires.

cosmo7 08-14-10 08:34 PM

go te37v's bro

rotary_bünta 08-17-10 10:10 AM

ok guys. i bought the rims. i got the xxr 002 in black 16x8, they were a little bigger than i had expected but oh well. now my issue is that i went to a few tire shops and they all tried to up sell me to some $150 tires each and they were saying only like 2 sizes of tires fit on the rims an if i install any tires on them i will get alot of rubbing and wont be able to turn and what not. now i do have 18x9 on there now.. at least i think they are 18x9 with some 215/35/r13 tires and i get no rub or turning issues.. so i guess my question is. what size tires should i get that wont cause any problems. or should i just raise the car a bit since i have tien adjustable coil overs. ??

Hypertek 08-17-10 10:29 AM

Get your fenders rolled or do them yourself with a baseball bat.
Then maybe 215/45/16 or 205

Remember, they are only suggesting that because they dont want to be held liable if they rub your car and mess things up. Go in there with confidence and they will put anything you want on it.

yup.. searching the forum on how to roll. just incase i need to.. i saw this thread. and the 1st pic in there of the white fc is nice. https://www.rx7club.com/showthread.p...ht=fender+roll

if i could get close to that i would be soo happy

-3 degrees made it work out well. It still rubbed.

I'd run a 45-50 series tire if you're trying to go super low. 55 series looks like poo-poo.

185-195 tire up front would work out well.

The guy i got my 16x8 0's from was running a 255 60 out back with a slight pull and a little bit of camber.

Tip: When you PULL your front fenders (and you will need to) heat up up good with a heat gun. Have two of your bestest friends put all their weight on the front lower and rear lower parts of the fender and it makes for a smooth pull. Mine ended up screwed because they ended up being forced out in two spots and didn't even pull at all.

rotary_bünta 08-17-10 04:04 PM

so i should just go get the tires i want. then roll the fenders with some friends? is it bad to run them stretched like in the link i provided?

rotary_bünta 08-31-10 10:01 AM

got them on. what do yall think?

unek87 09-12-10 11:32 PM

so whats the offset . looks good

RX710thAE 09-12-10 11:41 PM

lookin' good bro!

need RX7 09-12-10 11:49 PM

Those look pretty good :icon_tup:. I might look into something like those for my base until I can go 5-lug. What are the wheel specs?

rotary_bünta 09-13-10 12:49 AM

they are 16x8 i thought they were 0 offset but when i went to put tires on them (215/40/16) they tire guy said that the offset of the rim was 3.7? :dunno: is the offset the distance measured from the center of the rim where the whole is to edge of the rim?
thanks for the compliments guys. although i think i might either have to fix my camber in the front (when i got the alignment it showed the camber was off cuz its lowered i gues) or i might have to roll the front fenders. the left tire got some rubbing marks on it. but only when i get a certain smooth dip on the 91/110 ramp. i smelled burning rubber for about 1min. granted i was bolting at about 90 cuz i was late to work. :S

driftxsequence 09-13-10 12:52 AM

http://www.koseijp.co.jp/engfl/NewPa.../K3Formula.htm

i plan on getting these in 4 lug - 17 inch :)

rotary_bünta 09-13-10 12:54 AM

^ those look nice.. but for some reason im not a big fan of 5 spoke. but i still think they would look clean tho. how much are they?

That is not going to look good.. size wise I mean.. The wheel design looks good, its just 17x7 is meant for front wheel drive or all wheel drive cars, especially the offset .

inless im not reading my offset chart right you said the wheels are 16x8 right ? well if he said 3.7" then you sir have a offset of -19 or round about ,which i truly doubt you have . again i could be wrong . nice setup though

driftxsequence 09-13-10 08:59 AM

they only offer one size of these.... but i have never seen an FC with 4 lug run these (go figure...) would they look okay or do they "need" to be staggered?

currently rolling on 14 inchers with super skinny tires...

unek87 09-13-10 09:59 AM

i believe ive seen them also in a +15 but harder to find . ive been looking at these and the bananas for awhile now
