its a damn shame
..Though the stock gauge only goes up to 85MPH XD

damn right, those peugot 3 litre magnesium block engines were pure garbage in the shape of a motor! 83 miles per hour was in fact about their top speed, lol...
we used to service a few deloreans at the volvo dealer i worked at since they had the same powerplant as volvo used in that same timeframe.

The top speed as actually about 110MPH but it took forever to get there. Really sad that a fairly capable chassis and a great design was given an engine suited to a family sedan of the time.

And stock turbos?! Engine bay space is limited but with some creative thinking and placement of the intercooler, there is plenty of room for an upgraded turbo.
it might not have been the block but i know that there was certain parts of the engine that were made of magnesium. could have been the intake manifold, the expansion rates caused issues with gaskets blowing out and causing vacuum leaks or oil leaks. i can't recall but i just remember the old geezer master volvo tech bitching about those motors all the time.. hehe
i was only 16-19 when i worked there with volvo, half of my life ago.

It sounded like they were more than happy with even stock 20B performance, compared with the old engine.
It is ALL about who you buy it from. An "RX-7 guy" could have easily gotten $1,800 from me for that car. But I happened to run into a dude that clearly just didn't give a rats ***... And I'm glad, too!
Reading Aaron's DeLorean story makes me sick... That is just sad.

That's such a great video. Production wise, it's very entertaining. It's actually what inspired me to make a similar video with my RX-7.
Black looks OK but unfortunately to paint the car, you need to do serious damage to the stainless. The graining needs to be removed, then the surface needs to be 80-gritted, then etched. To return a car back to proper stainless after it has been painted is hugely labor intensive as it needs to be totally stripped then regrained.
I think any engine would be an upgrade, power wise. But you could get the same power and torque out of a 13B easily (this is stock hybrid turbo and RTek area) without the packaging and cooling issues of a 20B. Stock port 13B with a GT35R on the .84 T3 hot side = full boost at 3000RPM, just over 300 FT-LBs and 350HP all day long at about 15 PSI. Cheaper, easier, better result and much lighter. Taking as much weight out of the drivetrain as possible is only a good thing, since the engine sits behind the rear wheels.
haha, funny but sad story. too many people like that in the world. lazy ******** with big dreams and a yard full of crap that they think is gold.
perhaps may happen with this particular car if he won't accept $1500 which is about what it is worth.
but that is odd that no one was willing to adopt a delorean after how many hands it passed through to be chopped by the jaws of life. the stainless steel alone was worth recycling.

You would be surprised how far they go to repair them! There is so much stuff in these cars that are NLA and thus are expensive as hell.
As for the fenders, the number of original fenders left for the EU dealership can be counted on 2 hands... Been there, saw them...
I ve know guys who found a delorean who was sitting almost half its life in the woods, you wouldn't even recognize that there was a car under that pile of bushes.
They tried to trace down the owner and went so far to clean it and protect it with a self bought/payed car cover for it. Turned out it still was in good condition, SS and GFK do not really rot, and the epoxy coated backbone frame is hard to destroy, it might rust once the epoxy cracks, but not as badly as say "normal cars"... I am sure aaron knows this story, the delorean community is really really small. I still might have some pics of that car on my computer.
Mine wasn't better, sitting years at a backyard. You dont want to know what I paid for it ...
Edit:
Not even kidding a little. There is a common problem with the automatic transmission governor (so it is called in the DeLorean world) were a few random components fail. One being a capacitor, another being a transistor. Easy fix with 5 minutes and a soldering iron.
I now want to swap a manual delorean tranny in there. I realized auto is not the right thing for me.

The most i ever paid for a turbo car is $1200 (white one) 38k 1 owner. yea i stole it but the woman knew she wasnt going 2 drive it any more and wanted it 2 go 2 a good home. $500 4 the red one needed a trans. the man got it service and they forgot 2 put oil in the trans 66k 2 owner. black one $500 needed lots of love but run great 104k. u can find them cheap just look.
Yep mine was $400 and the guy is a rx7 owner with to many projects. He knew what he could've gotten but i had the cash and he needed it. Yeah it has some issues but hey for $400 i can't complain.

put the pipe down, how long ago did you find them? if recently then consider yourself very lucky. if you find anymore you wish to pass on, let me know, i'll buy the lot if you find anymore under $1200 with most of the drivetrain intact. i will restore them properly versus let some drift kids turn them into trash piles.
