I was just informed...

Tonight me and another board member (shmacklepap) worked on my fc for a few hours, we discovered its not getting fuel but it will spark. We tested for pulse on the injectors and they are fine. So im guessing its either clogged injectors or bad fuel pump, this will be determined tomorrow.

As I was cranking the motor for the compression check my friend got a suprised look on his face as he looked at the gauge. 120psi. So we checked the front housing, again 120psi. So he looks at the front and finds a little blue badge that says: "Remanufacture" dated 2000, the same year the car was put in storage.

So basically this rx7 got a new motor, drove for a while and the harness from the rebuild was not secured so touched the turbo and fried, they must have had a hard time finding a replacement so they pulled the harness and put the car in storage. Now, 8 years later, I own it.

Im so glad I turned down those $2k offers...

That's like finding week old cheetos in your pants pocket! They're always still good :bigthumb:

My vote is the injectors are stuck from sitting so long. My turbo II sat for 2 years before I got it. 1 injector had fried electrically, read 4000 ohms!, and one of the others was stuck shut. I traded the fried one with a spare and sent all 4 off to be cleaned, and flowed.

I would suggest witchhunter.com, they are only $17 per injector + $10 shipping. I used them and the I had them back 4 days after I sent them. Best of all they all were within 4cc of each other :)

I got the fuel pump replaced (from an FD) tonight, we now have fuel pressure! The old fuel pump was SUPER nasty. when I pulled out the old pump, the filter box still was full of gas that couldnt drip out. im betting the fuel is completely unusable. Next step is to drain and get fresh gas in the tank and try to start it again. next step will be to send off the injectors (damn i hate to undo all the stuff I did today), I will probably use the above mentioned method. Thanx project87gxl for the info.

Today's work:

Drained gastank and wiped down inside with a few shop rags. Filled with 89 and some injector cleaner. Still had start issues. Pulled injectors from manifold and cranked the car. One had NO flow the other top one would barely count as a spray. So the injectors are clogged. They are already boxed and ready to ship to witchhunter.com. As soon as they are returned, the car is 98% done! finally I will need to fix the exhaust leak. It seems to be comming from behind the turbo, but once its drivable, I will move it into the shop and get it on a lift. Anyone got any spare exhaust gaskets for a TII laying around? I can't find them anywhere.

oh and I tried cranking with every injector clip on the top two injectors for testing purposes.

Its such a pain in the arse to put it back completely together as much as I know how, only to have to rip it all apart again. (Done this 4 times this week so far) But at least im getting VERY familiar with this motor. Pics Soon!
