Ground wire on alternator to tranny
 

hey guys so i ben having a small problem thats ben giving me a headache its my front head lights. When I drive they tend to get deemer and brighter. I just installed some hid lights and its doing the same thing. What seems to be the problem? Does the alternator ground wire have any thing to do with this problem? let me also say the ground wire is not in great shape.

Yeah, ya did.

CHeck aaron cakes website and my thread "wiring your drift car the 'right' way" in the drifting section.

Replace ALL your grounds and your main power lead with fresh ish. Be sure to clean all contact points and use dielectric grease (on grounds and power leads only. You WILL screw your shit up if you use this on multipin harness plugs).


Polarity: Connection:

- Battery to chassis on d/s strut tower.
(I used 2ga o2 free wire for this and used a screw type battery terminal as a distrobution block/mounting point. All
slathered in dielectric grease to keep corrosion at bay and conductivity high. :D)

- D/S strut tower to starter
(5ga 02 free)

- ECU ground located under lim comming off the harness. Black eyelet wire.
Should be bolted to an iron or housing. Nothing else.
(cleaned bolt, eyelet with sandpaper. Applied dielectric grease)

- UIM to firewall
(5ga 02 free wire with copper eyelets)

+ Battery to starter (primary)
(4awg standard red power wire)

+ Battery/primary to alternator, fuse box, iirc, starter solenoid single flat pin
plug too.
(IIRC, i used 8 or 10awg standard wire for this)

Extras: I did add 1 extra 5ga 02 free ground that goes from my grounding block (strut tower, near the ps pump) to a bolt for my
front suspension. Couldn't hurt.


Hope this helps. Like i said, i litterally JUST GOT DONE doing this and my car was doing all sorts of funky shit i was convinced was something else but after upgrading all my stuff every problem i had electical wise (aside from my wiper switch being gash) went away. :D



Inspect the small 16-20 ga wires in your harness for damage while you are doing all this. I JUST got done doing this. Car starts faster, headlights dont dim, it doesn't want to stall when i go full lock to park anymore, gas mileage is better.
