nice work! car looks great

Landon303 11-18-12 05:56 AM

Oh man sweet!! LOVE that you kept it claret too.

If I can, how much time did you have into it, and do you do paint/body work often? I'm thinking of painting a few of my own cars :D

Molotovman 11-18-12 06:03 AM

It looks really good.
Are you going to 5-lug swap it next time she goes away?

Panda86 11-18-12 06:50 AM

Top effort

I have an FC I want to do the exact same thing to... Claret mica is it's factory color I believe.

RotaryEvolution 11-18-12 01:43 PM

i would have painted it neon green, see the real surprise on her face when she sees that after coming home from vacation!

nice work. even though i am not the biggest fan of the turd brown FC color, had an SE years ago with that color.. yuck.

apsolus 11-18-12 02:17 PM

awesome man! even the primer would be a few steps up from the way it was:lol:

sodrifter 11-19-12 05:54 PM

i have about 30hrs of my time into it and i have been painting for about 18yrs
i am not really a fan of the color either.i only repainted it that because it was easiest and a rare color. as for the 5lug comment, i already picked up a set of crown vics for it. prob. gonna go with gold centers. just gotta get the 5lug stuff and tires now:)

brian_skotch 11-19-12 07:59 PM

bravo sir!

RotaryEvolution 11-20-12 12:29 PM

also i would have avoided the 2 stage, painters are engrained into selling 2 stage jobs because it gives them job security. it's also simpler than cutting paint but single stage jobs can be cut many many times if done right.

sodrifter 11-20-12 07:29 PM

you cannot cut single stage metallic. you will sand the peaks of the metallic and it will look like total shit. you can only buff non metallic.

base/clear is the only way to go if you want to fix any mistakes.
