Thank you.
Yes It was taken with my E3. If I remember correctly it was a 40 sec exposure, 100 iso, and then some tiny tweaks in photoshop. This was the only photo out of like an hour of shooting ( although an hour of shooting at 40+ sec exposures isn't many) that came out nice, it was so windy it was shaking my tripod. It was completely black outside it was like 1:30 AM. I am sure there are alot better photos out there then this, but just thought I would post it to see if you guys like. Still learning with photoshop. I am pretty good with cameras, but my composure skills suck!!!

The lighting sort of makes it look like there's a zombie in the passenger seat.

hi k4'

very nice, BUT...

it looks a little goofy WITH A PASSENGER in the car ...

just kidding, bet almost no1 notices the passenger(except for the sharp eyed rocket88).

it's tough to get good color in total night/darkness, and the long exposure OVER saturates the while lights of the city....

the harsh whiteness overwhelms the sky, diamond head and the car some....

it's just a bit too much CONTRAST right though the center of the scene.

here's a trick, IF you have a few shots with shorter exposures and LESS white background light...

2 (or more) shots can be combined taking the best of each (background/sky/mountain and urban light and car/foreground.

this is pretty easy to do digitallly with static shots from a fixed position tripod and works a little better than trying to do too much with layers in pchop.

oh, and the passenger has a funny hat on too...

cheers
henry

composition problems????

always use the rule of thirds.

so here is one other trick to try....

CUT the bottom/forground OFF right above the license plate, try it. just crop horizontally above the plate.

this puts the car lower in the photo, removes the busy parts (tags/wheels/orange markers) and

better positions the city lights and diamond head, giving MORE room in the upper half of the photo for sky and clouds....

doing this puts the bright light in the lower 1/3rd with MORE focus on the reflective parts of the car topside,

and brings the 'blueness' into the main middle 1/3 of the photo.

now the sky is balanced and soft clouds get the top 1/3...

and the rx7 is still nicely shown...

it works for me...

Thanks for the help. I usually try to always use the Golden Rule. I actually edited it and used your suggestions to made it into a signature, although the text within in is kind of cheesy....LOL. I will have to change that but too lazy to open up photoshop again especially when I merged all layers into one Thanks again and my next picture batch will sure be sure to use all your tips and hopefully some new techniques I learn on my own. For now though I have to fix some scratches in the bumper, work on making my actuators activate through the air-pump, and get a new exhaust.
Thanks again guys

Cityscape is blown out, lighting on the car (which should be the focal point btw) is too low, and the car itself is unimpressive.

Lol what a bunch of haters. Sure you need some work, but its a good start and your car is clean.

Openrx had good tips, just lose the passenger and work on your composition and white balance.

good job on the cropping, much much better.

unfortunately the limitations of sig pics (size/pixels) takes a little from the larger view which has details and reflections and glimmer.

look at the tiny bit of city light that comes through the interior/windows on the car.

THAT should be the about the degree of light intensity from the broader cityscape.

yeah, loose the text. "sleepy" hardly fits a shot with that much LIGHT.

by cropping out the car tag and mazda labels, this picture has more universal appeal...

the viewer then has to study the image a little to see the clues that reveal location or model....

diamond head is the key and rx7 speaks to those who know, my blue hawaii ...

cheers
henry
