FC T2 exhausts- Do you prefer single or twin tailpipe?
As title. I'm not sure.
Twin always seems 'fake' to me as its a single system splitting in to two (even the stock system), and have always had a single exhaust on mine. BUT I just bought a new system, and they've accidently sent me (the more expensive) twin one, and I'm not sure if I like it now... Whats others preferences? |
twin- because of the bumper and for as long as I can remember twin was always on hot rods and single was for boring cars

a twin tip is typically quieter than a single due to having a muffler in each tip.
|
Single on a stock looking street RX7 always just looked like cheaping out to me. Maybe it's because my city is full of shitty beat up civics with low end canister exhausts.
|
Mine is about as far from stock looking as possible, so thats no issue, but I see your point.

I love the twin look on an FC. It's fair warning to challengers hehe I've always thought it looked clean and complete that way, too.
|
Yeah, it's very good for dropping sound levels without much restriction added. Also it looks good.
|
I've always thought having two bumper cutouts and running single exhaust looked strange. And I like the added noise reduction.
|
Sound level has nothing to do with twin tips, its all in what mufflers u choose
|
So, the addition of another muffler and extra piping, even if it's a crappy muffler, has no affect on sound level?
Rightttt. |
It will have a small effect but not nearly as much as a good muffler set up. You can get a twin set up to be louder or quieter then a single all depends on muffler choice

My bumper only has one cutout, cutout isnt the issue. I'm leaning towards giving the twin a go
|
Twins effectively double your exhaust pipe area. I single 3 in is nice, but 2X 2.5in is still 5 inches of exhaust. My vote is for a 3in DP running to a 3in single to dual 2.5in y pipe.

The one I have here is 3in to 2x 2.25in. It's the downpipe that's the main thing, a 4in downpipe would be nice, but tbh I dont think I have the room. |
Single ftw. Dual is just for looks because for some reason people associate it with "fast".

Dual exhaust just looks cleaner with the stock bumper. I thought about single for a long time just going out of the drivers side but decided it did not make my car look symmetrical when I looked at it from behind. LOL
|
I'd prefer the stock dual pipes, it looks fine on the car. However, it should have been single from the beginning, like the FB, and then the FD. But I guess the car being squarish everywhere, it probably made sense to make the rear look more symmetrical.

Somewhere in this thread is discussion about exhaust flow cross sections and diameter in there written by howard coleman. |
depends on the car, the more stock it is the better duals look, IMO. single can work, but it depends, i'm pretty sure if i slapped an N1 single on my stock vert, it would look weird....
|
Defo twin on the FC Stav, single is wrong on an FC imo.
|
I love my Racing Beat REV TII!
I suppose a single would be lighter. Maybe single would be better for a track/race car. |
lol.. 'weight savings' No appreciable difference.
Me? I love me some symmetry.. B) Duals all day, every day. |
