I just got a Tein rear and a megan front from horsepower freaks. the rear took a little fab but nothing an FC owner cant handle. I'll post pics tonight. 3-27-08

Bad pic, dirty engine bay.

Mazdatrix triangulated. Truely the only way to go. First I only had the towers bolted and it drove a little better, but when I got the firewall braces bolted, It was like driving a Lexus. Definitely the best performance strut tower brace.

Ohh...

red_s5_fc3s 03-28-08 01:02 AM

I wish the mazdatrix one would fit my car. Too bad CP Racing doesn't make their triangulated bars anymore.

Josh13B 03-28-08 05:56 AM

This is my Greddy strut bar. was in a clearance sale, got it for $230 including interstate postage.

http://i243.photobucket.com/albums/f...s/strutbar.jpg

I got a friend to help put it on, he had all the right tools.

You can feel the difference straight away with steering.
there's good clearance from the alternator and radiator cap too

Is there really a difference between some cheaper strut bars, and strutbars from known tuning companies?
Is it woth the money, or am I just paying alot more for a tein, greddy, mazdaspeed, etc...sticker on the strutbar?

the quality matters much more than the Name on the piece. There are companies out there that make very good parts but are less well known and have very affordable prices.

For example a $230 clearance price is nonsense for a strut bar, I bought this TC Sportline strut bar for $75 from Mazdatrix, it fits both the NA and Turbo models, they have a matching rear bar as well. I think the TC Sportline is an excellent choice because it is rock solid and really tightens up the front end, plus looks great at a fraction of the cost of the Big Brand Name bars..

I know mine is a turbo but the same bar fits the NA's-

thanks guys. i really like the greddy bar but i like the tc sportline bar and price. i was really wanting a pic of the tc sportline bar also. definatly the way im going. thanks

NJGreenBudd 03-31-08 12:29 PM

Yeah, good choice man.

1revin712488 03-31-08 12:43 PM

WOW $230 for a FRONT strut bar!!! thats expensive...i got mine for 78 bucks plus shipping from horsepowerfreaks.com...... and it was a huge difference in handling

and my 2 cents....go tein. they are by far the best i've tried for both performance and cash......just my 2 cents tho. ;)

Good riddens to CP and the low life that ran it. Why would you want an utter POS strut bar on your car? It was thought out be a person with the engineering sense of a one-celled organism built that way because of backyard hack-job DIY type ease/cost. Cheap heavy mild steel tube, the front bar hung out so far from the strut giving a moment arm that would also impart a "torque-twist" to the strut tops under load and required trimming the rad shroud/relocating the main fuse box (or at least removing the protective cover). The firewall braces bolted on to the flimsey sheetmetal instead of the firewal cross-rib (like the mazdatrix one).

Hypertek 03-31-08 04:06 PM

why do people always complain about the cost of parts? people dont wanna buy brand name $$ wheels, then people dont wanna buy $$$ good strut bars.

cusco
http://a111.ac-images.myspacecdn.com...2b5d38b8b6.jpg

but the tcsportline stuff looks decent, basically cusco style.

Wow, I didn't know all that. That sucks. I thought it was the same quality as the Mazdatrix one.

I can certainly afford to buy the Cusco piece, but I would prefer to spend $75 on the TC Sportline piece and put the left over $$$ into another area of the car.

I'm not advocating buying low quality items like ebay strut bars. I just see no need in having a particular name on a piece if the quality is the same, especially for x3 the cost.

I'm not complaining about cost of parts,...and not about wheels either, I have mazdaspeed wheels on my car, because good wheels are important... but a mazdaspeed strut bar for example is 250$, ... it's only a strutbar !
That's too much ...
First I wanted to buy cusco bars too, but then I thought about it....
Some corksport or tcs strutbars are only about 70$ .....I don't think there will be a difference in handling between a good 70$ strutbar and a 150-250$ strutbar (except those firewall braces)....
But tell me if I'm wrong.

Because some parts are over-priced. Why do you think you're a baller because you have wheels and a strut bar but no clear coat?

Hypertek 03-31-08 08:18 PM

no hard feelings. its just funny when people complain about the original price of parts.. the only reasons strut bars are soo cheap is because the market got flooded with inexpensive versions..

arospeed bar i got back in the day

^^ see I don't like how it's so skinny where the bar meets the mount, both the Tc Sportline and Cusco are much wider and they both lack the adjustment screw together doohicky. The TC fits exactly, there is no adjustment, it is very solid and locks the strut towers together.

I have hard good things about the braces that mount to the firewall beam as well.
