ebay fmic install...

alright well i decided to post my install of fmic off ebay... incase anyone else is lookin to buy one...the ebay seller was terrible i had questions got no responses period..and the fitment was prity shitty.. but i guess its ebay lol... compression tube needed to be drilled out the holes to mount it to the t/b were to close and didnt line up.. and i had to cutt the driverside lower tube and extend it a few inches...and it fits terrible around the p/s and break booster resivior..
but im happy overall...

good stuff, can you photograph the hole you had to cut on the driver's side for the piping?

and what process did you use to make the hole?

younG_Gunner 01-20-10 02:30 AM

+1 for TB and UIM clean up?

okiedoke 01-20-10 11:56 AM

yea ill grab one today... and...process... well i tried to use a whole saw blade...wasnt makin any progress...so.. i just drilled a ton of holes on a circle..and took side cutters..clipped em all...then a dremal with a grinding bit to clean it all up...then some vac line cutt in half to cover any sharp edge

and yea no kidding i should def clean that all up... its filthy..

t24todd 01-21-10 07:51 PM

cool...cost?
link for ebay?

okiedoke 01-22-10 02:06 PM

uhh came to 500 shipped then 70cod at door....still alright... and i dont have a link.. just search it on motors.ebay.ca ...

also sorry no pic..i didnt wanna pull it appart to take one ..but .. its really easy on the driver side..remove the headlight washer jug and theres a hole where the neck comes up...just make that hole bigger..3 1/2 is good ...thats all i did..

i will never buy that intercooler....i helped my god brother put that same intercooler setup on his fc and it was horrible...we had to cut some stuff and like you said we had to drill the holes out bigger even inside the compression tube we had to cut some stuff cause the design of it would block some of the airflow.....i will not recommend that intercooler setup to anyone

Hypertek 01-25-10 08:55 PM

godspeed, megan racing, etc could have picked a better name lol

ifryrice 01-25-10 09:23 PM

Looks like they finally got around to knocking off the greddy FMIC.

I think those comments about drilling were for the piping on the driver's side.

Could you elaborate on your story though, I'm curious what kind of work you had to do now, and what exactly the problem was?

okiedoke 01-26-10 02:53 PM

ok well i had to cutt a hole on the passanger side under the head light bracket... ( hole there already) just make it bigger.....then mount the inter cooler..... then cutt the hole on the passanger side.. ( remove the headlight washer jug) make the hole bigger thats already there... easy.... uhhh the pipe that connects to the compression tube fits like shit .. u have to loosen off the nuts that are the hard lines on p.s and move them a bit ....as well as move around all the brackets ( bracket for fuse pannel ) move fuse pannel too... uhhh remove the engine hoist bracket... wont fit with c/tube and sensor... and then the hood has pressure on it from the cennection of the first and second pipe on the t.b side.. but still closes fine ...

all in all its alright...

oh and alot of bumper cuttin...

puhpaper 01-27-10 04:27 AM

thanks for that heads up, i've got the same FMIC, and i'll have to go down this road soon enough. got any pics of the bumper put back on and cut?

okiedoke 01-27-10 02:50 PM

The original kit made by Greddy was designed for Jspec cars and the brake booster is on the other side. Thats why it fits the way it does on left hand drive cars. In the Greddy instructions you have to move the fuse box and leading coil and it comes with the necessary brackets. It also shows where you have to extend/cut holes. Cutting the bumper to fit the kit is normal for alot of cars that don't come with front mounts stock.

Look up Greddy Vspec for pics of other people's install of that front mount. For the price you paid is a steal compared to the Greddy price of over $1,000.

BOV?

dawicka2 03-03-10 01:51 AM

FUEL?

john ny

okiedoke 03-03-10 11:30 AM

what about em lol....no bov im broke...and what about fuel...ive drivin it like 2wice and mostly babied it.. ill get wideban soon i hope..and see whats up with fuel... prolly just end up putting in a fd pump..and do the rewire deal..i thought stock pump and injectors could hold a good amount of boost?

10aeRX7 03-03-10 01:25 PM

car looks mean from the front.

sharingan 19 03-12-10 05:15 PM

FD pump supports over 300 whp, but stock injectors.....especially ones that haven't been clean/tested, wouldn't trust em for too long.

Then again I've got a puerto rican buddy that just threw a walbro 255 and a boost controller on his TII w/ 3in exhaust and runs around @ 10 psi all day....but perhaps he's the exception not the rule; Puerto Ricans can carve apex seals from coconuts and run 10's....carburated.

warlock78 03-13-10 09:29 AM

i too have the same kit. being rhd, didnt have to worry about the master cyl. p/s pump is another matter though. mine rubs quite a bit, transmits a bit of a whine through the car. egr solanoid was a pain too!

okiedoke 03-13-10 11:15 AM

motor went pop :( maybe i shouldnt have beatin on it.....
