Some people just want a cool looking car (which is why the V6 Mustang sells, and for the same token, probably why the NA 2nd gen was brought to North America) and if they don't try to pass it off as the real thing, more power to them if they have the skill to accomplish the transition.

For example, I'd rather be this guy then buy a real Lamborghini Countach. His car isn't "real" but in my view, it's worlds better then the real one.

That's flat out fraud, and I can see why it would sour your taste on swaps. It's too bad this stuff goes on but it's part of every automotive community.

Does the Geo-Metro community have any real choice, though?

if you think that RX-7 people can be nit-picky, pick up any "exotic" car and join the appropriate forum/mailing list. I was kicked off the DeLorean list (DML) because I went against the list "experts" and told them it was ridiculous to say that the PRV in the DeLorean can only handle 5 PSI of boost. I explained that modern turbos, unlike the '60s era IHIs and RayJays they were using, are far more efficient and boost pressure is actually largely irrelevant. It turned into a mini shitstorm because I was knocking down the knowledge of the "experts". I was banned, and my messages were deleted from the archives.

I have no clue about any geo-metro clubs I was just making a point we need to stick together.

I would like a TII swap for it or maybe I'll turbo that motor. no it wont be a TII if it came from the factory as a TII then yes anything is not a TII. I really don't care what rx7 engine you put in any generation, FD in a FB. Just do it right. I hate wires hanging all over. but don't and i repeat DON'T PUT A FUC&&&& V8 IN IT. GO BUY A CAMARO OR MUSTANG. THAT IS SO STUPID WHEN PEOPLE DO THAT.there is on reason for it. camaro's and mustang's are cheap. It's a RX7 for a reason, you should leave this site and never return if you do that swap. "my rx7 is so fast i put an Ls1 in it" well your a douche.
Hi I'm a douche. I also owned a NA vert, now I still own a NA vert just faster. Camaros and Mustangs are like opinions, a lot of people have them, most aren't any good. I'm glad you're the self appointed rotary world policeman you've got a lifelong full time job. Now hunt me down and arrest me.

At least it's not a hack job.

PS I just made your car rarer and worth more, you should thank me.

I have no idea whats going on here, but I've got an ls1 in my really clean low mileage FD.

F you guys. my car is faster, more reliable, easily daily driven, passes emissions and inspection legally.

*shrug*

I still like rotaries though.

You know what pisses me off, people who constantly just talk crap over and over to each other. It shouldn't matter if you have a piston or a rotor under the hood if you put good work into it. Yeah I believe that there should always be a wankel in any RX, but am I going to hate on all the piston swaps... maybe a little =P but in the end if its done right its done right. Let people do what they want.
The only time I talk back about piston swaps is when they talk down to the wankel =P

Btw mayhamfx looks like a really good swap, like the airbox you made =P

This is an interesting thread, I guess old boy doesn't realize the roots of hot rodding and most competitive racing comes from not being afraid to bolt a better mill in between the frame rails. I tell you what build something that I think is worth starting my car for and I will still drag you faster than you can ever hope to go. Oh and BTW my car is one of those hack job, redneck engineered, bastard child V8 swaps. You can talk all the smack you want about keeping it original but it's douchebags like you that make stock first gen Camaros cost more than my house and pro mods comparatively worthless. A car is metal, plastic, and rubber it is the driver that gives it's personality not what is bolted to it.

I'm not for or against V8 swaps (I have no need for one in my life, but I don't care if others do it, as long as it is done properly) but this statement makes no sense.

A V8 RX-7 is a completely different car then a rotary RX-7. The engine feels different, vibrates differently, has a totally different powerband and has different requirements for how it is driven and maintained.

That would qualify as a distinct personality.

So True. I built my car in the spirit of "hot rodding". I'm sure somebody stuck up for Vega's when people started putting V8s in them (just kidding), or '32 Fords. It's always been put a big motor in a small car, the factory's did it that's where muscle cars came from. It's not rotary bashing (that's something the "elitists" bring on them selves) it's using a great modern day hot rodding platform.

Keep in mind that I'm using very few name brand parts

I'm still a little RX7 owner, barely starting, trying to find my way up.

Although that is the case, one thing I can't stand is x-honda owners thinking they can come from Pistons to Rotary in a jiffy.

I compared the engines. They're EXTREMELY distinctive.

the whole point of owning an rx7 or anything with a rotary is to say i own something not many people have. anyone can put a v8 in a car and say how it works but its a greater feeling explaing to people i have no pistons
