What size tire are you running?

philstar 03-23-12 12:13 PM

im currently debating right now on if i want to run the stock 205/55 sizing or do a 205/50 on the vic's i just got

_Mac_ 03-23-12 12:58 PM

^205/50 for sure, 55s are too thick^

airquin23 03-23-12 02:00 PM

Agreed^^^ Personally 205/50 is the perfect size tire for C.V.s.

JakeStWicks08 03-23-12 10:41 PM

i use 205/55. they seem to be the most common tire size to find so i have like 6 sets readily available for free

slowgxl 03-24-12 11:27 AM

205/50 are the best! And if you like auto crossing or drifting you can find a lot of great tires in that size. I found a set of hankook rs2 for mine :)

philstar 03-25-12 01:53 PM

not me, just found these pics online, looks like 205/55?

what I just picked up

philstar 03-26-12 11:36 PM

I assume these use OEM acorn-style lugnuts and not tuner-style lugnuts?

airquin23 03-27-12 01:10 AM

Pretty sure you could use either. Nice pick-up, they look sweet.

Lebel 03-28-12 02:46 PM

I got theses wheels too, but it seems like I need extended studs? Because I use a 5 mm spacer in the front to clear the caliper. Or do I just need extended lugs?

slowgxl 03-28-12 11:30 PM

^all you need is a 5mm spacer. Some C.V. on my car

That's kinda impressive. I didn't like the rims at first, but they are growing on me.

I've never messed around with spacers. Does 5mm require longer studs?

JakeStWicks08 04-01-12 11:38 AM

5mm is the most i would do without extended studs. i got extened studs for mine anyways though because i don't like the idea that my wheel is being held on by like 5 to 10 threads

Lebel 04-01-12 01:45 PM

Yeah^^^ Thats why I was thinking about getting extended studs. As soon as my lug nuts come in I will see how it fits.

airquin23 04-01-12 03:29 PM

I ran 5mm spacer with no extended studs on mine for a long time. No issues. DD/Drifting etc.

I've begun my search for a set of crown vics, but since I'm not an expert with tire sizing I have to ask: I've decided on 205/50/16 for the fronts as that's what everyone says is the best, but what's the exact reason for a 225/45/16 on the rear? Is the slightly lower profile for looks? Or is it a clearance issue? Would it look that much different with 225/50/16's in the rear?

And to put together what's been said so far for clearance questions, a 5mm spacer up front is all that's required for the crown vics to fit. So with the spacer and the above tire sizes the rims fit fine under stock/non rolled or pulled fenders?

Someone also asked earlier if spacers are needed for the rear to flush it out? But the question was never answered. Thanks for the help.

JakeStWicks08 04-02-12 12:58 PM

i used a camber adjuster rod in the rear to pull most of the camber out and that made them sit pretty flush. as for the front with my 205/55's i had to roll and slightly pull the fronts. i couldn't get enough camber with my megans to fit the rims without pulling. i'm looking around for 205/50's and i'm also going to modify my megans to get more camber

^^^Now I know exactly what my car will look like with Crown Vics. Philstar, what suspension and spacer set-up are you running? It looks like you have a mild drop on a stock body. Right now I have bascially the same car but am running completely stock suspension on stock wheels. Once I get a set of Crown Vics, I plan on upgrading my suspension and am curious what I need for it to fit on a stock body? My body is pretty mint, so I don't want to roll or pull my fenders. Thanks.

FlavorSavr 04-04-12 07:18 PM

surprisingly harder to find these wheels then I thought! Want.

philstar 04-04-12 09:34 PM

I am running a 5mm spacer up front, and I am on STANCE GR+ coilovers with the camber plates at max camber (not sure on exact specs since I wont be getting an alignment until I put on my supernow angle setup). I will probably go slightly lower but I love how streetable it is at this height. I also rolled the front fenders since i would slightly rub the fender on hard cornering and while drifting.
