Its a short throw shifter for a miata/rx7, i was browsing ebay when i happened to come across one, i was wondering if anyone everbought one of these, and what they thought of it

hmm... i dont know if i would trust some ebay off brand shifter...

why not buy it and do a small write-up and review?

Yeah, i have one.
In terms of the actual hardware, it's fine and I don't know how a more expensive version (like say, Mazdatrix) could be much different.

That said, I knew from the git-go that I'd be modifying whatever I bought and this cheaper part worked fine.
The nylon bushing on the very end had to be sanded down a little to fit the shift linkage block and I spent the time to shim the pivot bushings to make the fit just right.
Neither were a big deal and it worked fine.

I went further and machined down the upper section to make it even shorter.

IMO, when switching to any short shifter the knob is absolutely critical...the heavier the better. I used a Nismo racing knob that's very heavily weighted and the whole thing works beautifully...very short crisp throw without a lot of effort.

Throw from 1st to 2nd is 1 3/4".

I have a ebay short shifter....i love it. I have a rx8 knob on it, there pretty heavy. IMO they work perfect together.

i have one too I only paid $14.00 for mine off ebay but the screws were too short for some reason.. well long story short trip to homedepot and 97 cents later we have this....Attachment 361070 ....I took the top part of the shifter off it comes in 2 pieces...if you leave it on its the stock shifter height....

Anybody have any side by side shots with one of these shifters and a stock shifter? I'm curious to see the difference.

i did the exact same thing. it was notchy but i liked it :) I used a 350z shifter

+1for ebay short shift works great the black chrome one is cool looking ebay isstillgoodfor some thing i guess lol lol.

yea i wnet strait miata Shrt throw on mine very very short throw you realy need either a nice weighted knob or like smashing into gears(lol South SMASH!!!!!!!)

ive been doing resurch here and finally bought one. thing is i know how install a stock shift but i dont know how to install the short one.? can anyone show me a link besides mazdatrixs video?
