92 fc???

I know that mazda made 1992 fcs bt i though they were only verts, i was on CL and someone said that their fc was made in 92 but its a hatch??? He said that the 92 hatchbacks were rare, is this true?

point-blank 05-09-12 09:24 PM

I didn't think there was a 92 rx7 at all.

youngfc 05-09-12 09:36 PM

wont help, but thats really cool. Does anyone have US production #s?

stevensimon 05-09-12 10:33 PM

there werent any 92 fc in us market. overseas it was just rebadged 91s which were rebadged 90s.

check build dates on door tags for these supposed 92 fcs.

epic 05-09-12 10:37 PM

Never ever seen a "92" FC. Hardtop or Vert. If I remember correctly, in 92 that is when mazda started to advertise for the 93 FD.

stevensimon 05-09-12 10:58 PM

in japan you could go to a mazda dealership and see a 92fc and 92fd sitting side by side.

I also herd that at dealers in 92 the some verts, with left over TII parts were put together making a stock TII verts, but ive never seen proof. only seen verts swaped to be TII like mine lol

You are thinking of the Halsmersport GTO limited edition. There were 2 (some say 1 in Japan so 3) produced. It was a 1990.

the whole problem with the 1992 FC thing is that they started building the FD in 1991, december 28th to be exact, it is hard to see why they would be building the FC after the FD started production, but then there IS a 1992 FC parts catalog, so maybe, or maybe its just verts.

the vin and build date will tell you

j9fd3s 05-13-12 02:51 PM

ah see, the parts fische tells the whole story.

the coupe was built until july of 1991, the convertible was built until sepember of 1992

interestingly they list the tan interior, and a RED interior, being built but not optional for the US market.

we had 4 colors, black(pz), blaze red (SQ) crystal white (UC) and brave blue mica (5N), with either blue or black interior in the US.

My mind is blown

I have a 92 FC sitting in my garage. It was sold as a 92' window sticker 91 build date in North America. Essentially, it was just an overstock sale as new in 92'. Mazda only produced 500 verts in 92. The problem with verifying a lot of this info is that in the early 90's MNO didn't keep import records by model, so all you have is X number of vehicles imported from Mazda and what was on the window sticker.

I JUST got the car back from my dad's shop this past weekend, and I haven't looked at the door sticker in... 8 years or more. I'll take a look tonight, but I know for a fact that it was originally sold as a 92. Maybe the dealer was a little dishonest... Who knows.

makes sense because I had read the vert was built on its own assembly line separate from the coupe

According to Icemark: https://www.rx7club.com/showpost.php...07&postcount=9

1992 FC3C

Production Dates: 08/1992 through 12/1992

VIN: 950001- 999999

In the spring of 1992, the coupe RX-7 replacement, the third generation RX-7 (FD3S) was released, however Mazda continued production of the FC3C Convertible until 12/92 as a 92 model year. The 92 Convertible was identical to the 91 versions except that a tan interior seating and door surface color option was added to the line up.

that is another point, the US parts catalog says 9/92 for the vert, and it does give the vin range. it is possible that the US version stops 9/92, like the parts catalog, and the JDM version continues for a little bit, the Rx8 is like this, the US version stopped late last year, and then they were going to have a small run of JDM cars early in 2012

reddozen 05-23-12 12:49 PM

Well, I'm out... No clue why my car's BOS was for 92, but it's a 91 for sure. Dec 1990 to be exact. I would understand if it was billed as a 91, but 92!? WTF

Rob XX 7 05-23-12 05:37 PM

i always see that same single picture, outside of that picture has anyone seen one of these in person or another picture?

I've seen pictures of tan interior verts on minkara. I didn't know they were only from 92.

Rob XX 7 05-23-12 08:42 PM

Its a right hand drive car, it has side markers, and what kind of mirrors are those?
