89 GTU near completion!
Ah, the mighty RX7... A marvel of automotive genius, a true masterpiece. Although time and weather may send our cars into seemingly impeccable doom, our hearts grow with every turn of the wrench and our cars become the shining beauties they have always meant to be. Our trophies.
My Seven has sat under carports and open areas, amidst trees and near buildings, long neglected of the love and care it deserves.
But to quote Bob Dylan, "Times, they are a changin.", and tomorrow, my Masterpiece will breathe her first breath.
Over the past year and a half, I have struggled to maintain my waning funds and motivation. Tomorrow, I will have paid for the final few parts that I have been missing. I will put everything in its proper place, align motor mounts, clutch, brackets, gaskets and new Momo steering wheel. I will slide the key into the ignition, and forget that I have yet to connect the battery terminals. But after this folly, she will breathe... The first massive inhalation of our life giving atmosphere will flow through her like the most hardcore Mexican food ever eaten. And I will fall to my knees and praise Almighty God that our ordeal is finally over.
And then I will drive for hours on end, fully delving into the break in process of my new engine, while releasing ton after ton of exhaust fumes, sonically increasing my carbon footprint.
I will keep ye of the forum posted as I hope you would do the same for me. Say a little prayer for me tonight and when the deed is done, angry triangles shall rule the world.
ROTORHEADS UNITE!
Viva la Wankel!
