6 Port Turbo, Megasquirt Build
I am building a car for a local. Finally was able to start and get it to idle on a MS2 V3.
Car is running Walbro 255, 4x720cc injectors and Megasquirt for fuel and management. Turbo is a China with a 1.15AR exhaust housing and .65 AR compressor housing. The turbo came with the car when he got it so we are going to run it and keep an eye on shaft play. If it gets out of spec it will get replaced with something reliable but for now since it was included with the car why not right? Exhaust is full 3 inch stainless to duels. Heat wrapped headers and complete downpipe. LC1 for a wideband placed 32 inches down the downpipe. Here is the first start video and some pictures. There was an exhaust leak at the time and the ECU was not getting a MAP signal. Once I fixed the MAP the car ran smooth as butter. Enough words, here you go. http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4016/...9b2abb0d_b.jpg http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3343/...1ce1b0fe_b.jpg http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4049/...85d754ee_b.jpg Main relay and power blocks. http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4060/...eaf76bd3_b.jpg There is not many people using the stock 6 port intake manifold so here you are. Also a picture from my old 6 port turbo build back when I was 17  http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4026/...6a9fc938_o.jpg |
Bravo!
|
sweet man im gonna do the same thing but use the turbo 2 intake
|
So far looks pretty good man!
|
Is that an orange in the turbo discharge pipe?
|
Sick! Great job. Stock intake manifold setups are rare. The intercooler piping will be fun, lol.

Cool! How did you get the turbo to fit?

It is an orange ball, I wont explain its purpose because I am sure that is obvious.
I just thought it might have been fruit. ;) Nice work, enjoy! |
cool man workin on the same setup but street port and rtek two questions tho where did you tap for the oil feed i see you have the drain goin to the pan directly?. are you useing any aux port sleeve for better flow?
|
^ same setup i wanna do
|
13BNA-T ftw!

I will take photos as soon as possible. :icon_tup: No Aux port sleeves although I was working on a custom pair in the past. I may bring the project back and see what I can make of them. Thank you very much for the positive support. Its rare to see a thread not get flamed down one way or another around here. |
thanks man i was tring to figure how I was goin to do that. i will be useing a ported turbo manifold with turbo oil filler neck so i can slap on my fd turbo easy.
one more question are you running a knock sensor and if so where is it mounted? |
"Also a picture from my old 6 port turbo build back when I was 17 "
wow I wish I had a turbo rx7 when I was 17 lol nice build though! Can you send me a pm of a wiring diagram or something on how you wired up the battery in the back? please :) |
Looks great! Take more pics when you get the intake / intercooler setup complete please. How much boost do you plan on running? And is the engine bone stock s4 n/a?

First to answer your previous question. Yes the drain line goes directly to the pan. -10 AN bung welded to the pan with a perfect seal. No knock sensor, just a slow conservative tune. Ask as many questions as you would like. -infinite7z As soon as I find the time I will make you and and others a detailed write up on the electrical system. If you are in a hurry for it I can get you something quick and in less quality by tomorrow PM. -TheAbsence The block was not removed from the car during the process. Only external modifications were made. As far as boost, I plan to run the injectors up to 75% duty cycle and whatever it lands us at we will be happy with. |

another note how did you slove the problem of the oil injection system it work with vaccum how does it react well to boost

lol lol duh I forgot about that I iam such a noob.
any way sir what you been up to |

The higher compression makes the low end a little better off. I have not driven a 4 port turbo. But stock for stock with turbo, the 6 port is a better option in my opinion. More stock port space, higher compression but still not enough to be considered "High". The car is real drivable not much worse then a N/A 6 port with the actuators removed. Lots of pictures taken today. Ill get that battery relocation write up done soon. |
^Where in NY are you?
|
Binghamton, 3 hours from NYC.

The Oil Pressure sensor is 1/8th NPT thread. I am getting the oil feed from there. I used a 4 way split capped on side, put the sensor straight out and the feed line coming off the split headed to the front of the car.
I will take photos as soon as possible. :icon_tup:

Actually, it is 1/8" BSPT. That's a British taper thread and slightly different then NPT. Some NPT fittings do fit, but in the process either the threads on the fitting or in the block are damaged. I guess if you never intend to remove it, you are probably alright with 1/8" NPT.

New photos, got the intercooler piping hooked up with the pipes we had available. A better job will be done later on.
I will add that all the parts to the oil feed system I used from an Ebay oil feed line kit. I have used them in the past never a problem so for everything you need that is an option. Do not order the drain lines because they use real cheap AN fittings. Pictures lol a light cord is hanging in the picture. http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4021/...15d36ffc_b.jpg http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4054/...d6a94d8d_b.jpg Like I said we are trying to get the car running for an event June 5th. We had to use 3 PVC couplers for now. The battery cable is a summit kit that came with the mounting tray and all. In the picture is where the line comes out from under the passenger side rear bin. The grommet is not in place yet but you can see it there. http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4004/...742f99c4_b.jpg Line routed up to the starter. http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4003/...508a0fbe_b.jpg Another view http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4020/...9f55642c_b.jpg Shot of the manifold, down pipe and 50mm wastegate. http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4003/...49359fe4_b.jpg I love questions and comments. Thanks for reading, Chris Stewart |
That look great man? quick question are you able to use an intercooler like an rsx one or similar to it so you can run both ic pipes one way? im debating on doing the same just dont wanna run so much piping

Dude that is very possible. Look at my first post how I routed the piping on my old 6 port turbo (last picture).

I guess I want to add that this is still the same clutch that came with the car and I expect it to be stock. Anything over 6PSI and it starts to slip.
New clutch soon so we can power shift the big turbo straight into the next gear. 2.5 60 foot times, so we have a lot to gain without raising boost levels at all. good job! im also doing the same setup with the stock s4 turbo but this is going into my first gen and already have the ms built for it.
added this to fav's |
one of these days we're going to have to meet up. I finally got my FC up and running again on the microtech. just needs a bit of tuning now.

YEAH! Most certainly need to meet up before winter. |
Just got a new clutch yesterday, OEM looked fried xD

I wanted to post an updated picture of the engine bay. Car is still running at 10psi.
The owner like the turbo lag more then anything. The exhaust housing was downsized to a .84 A/R. I would estimate low 12s in the 1/4th mile drag. |
Wow nice set up... LOL at the China turbo though
|
yeah one of the only things I could never get the cars owner to do was buy a real turbocharger. Still works fine though
|
So beautiful! I like your car!
