Window Sticker - Interesting Find
 

Earlier this month, I posted a how-to guide in repairing a passenger side door lock actuator/solenoid for the FC.

As the door card was reinstalled, I noticed something crumpled up between the window and door frame. At first it looked like a paper towel but once it was retrieved I realized that it was the car's original window sticker! I am the 2nd owner of the car and when I spoke to the original owner (both sharing a good laugh), he could not recall ever having the sticker. So for 26yrs, this sheet of paper endured the cycle of 4 seasons, rain, snow, sunshine, window movements, etc... Sadly, it was not all intact but given its location, I'd say it faired well.

that is very cool, too bad you can't see how much it was. i'd say it would have been around 28k

I have mine somewhere....

Funny thing was this thing was fully loaded with every single option (even auto i know right ugh) so i imagine it was pretty expensive if not the most expensive 7 you could buy in 1989 and then he added the "dealer extras"

He got leather protector for 800$ added, Top protector for 500$, a car cover which is missing now for 300$, a paint protection coating (which didnt do jack shit) for 1000$.

and the best part is the original owner had it registered to a car detailing business so why wouldn't he do it himself ???

I am about the 4th owner but the 2nd owner was a lady that paid 25k for it (yes i have the used car sale paperwork as well) less than 2 years later when he traded it back in to the local Dealer with (according to the paperwork) 20k on the odometer and she also got some "treatments" done to it as well.

Have to say its nice when a car comes with all the paper work and receipts of work done such as the "diagnose window switch issue" - 250$ plus drivers switch lol

my TII swap was owned by a Parachutist and his logs were in the car...also the original paperwork for the car..it was financed at a cost of 27 thousand...That car was an 86.

These cars were not cheap by any means. My old 10AE had a price of $25,192. When my 1980 Leather Sport was new is was quite an expensive car, carrying a $3000 premium over a standard GS:

You would think that jump logs would be important to retain? It's always a plus to receive all the original paperwork for the car. Especially the financial stuff because it puts inflation into perspective!

Nice to see an original sticker from 1980. Boy, does it look spartan! I am surprised to learn that the car had a $3k premium.

I am amazed how these labels evolved over the years. The only time I purchased a new car was in 2008. I was given 2 copies of the window sticker. However, it was laminated and big enough to be a table place mat! Recently, I saw a car window sticker that nearly consumed the entire passenger window!
