What is the small white switch under the clutch pedal?
So I had a clicking on the pedal since I bought the car, figured it needed tightened or something. So this week I have been gutting it to clean and paint the interior so I looked underneath and there is a tiny white switch. As the pedal comes back up it hits this switch, which is ofset from a hole in the pedal arm by like 1/16". Then it clicks fairly loud as it goes in. Is this supposed to be a smooth action, is the pedal off slightly, and also what the heck is it anyhow?

Neutral switch. It must be there for the engine to start and cruise to function. Maybe it clicks because the bushing is damaged/missing?

That makes sense. Is there supposed to be some sort of rubber piece on it or something? Because mine goes into a hole and so I could start the car without the clutch the way it is now....
Maybe thats why the hole is slightly offset, its supposed to have a part I am missing? Any idea what thats called? |
If its like the FD, then apparently its fairly common:

I just find something in one of my parts bins to stick in there.
