Trying to get started

Drained the gas tank as it hasn't ran in over 3 years. Anything else I should do before filling the tank with new gas? It cranks but doesn't fire yet

so I've drained the gas tank and tried to start....still won't fire. going to replace the spark plugs next

Are you sure its not been flooded? Id follow the unflooding procedures then try again, with new gas of course

I would also change the filter An your plugs and wires. If your omp has been deleted a little bit of premixing wouldn't hurt either.

I'm positive that its been flooded. I ran through the non invasive unflooding procedure with no luck. pulling the fuse, cranking, putting back in. during the procedure it tells me to fully depress the accelerator pedal with the fuse out while i crank it. is this to shut the fuel pump off? The reason I ask is the car has a fuel pump cutoff switch under the steering wheel. aftermarket obviously. Without thinking I kept it on the whole time. When i did remember I went through the procedure 3 more times with it off and the accelerator fully depressed with the fuse out. When i would try to start the vehicle I would turn it on. I went through the procedure probably 5 times with the switch always on and then 3 with it off when the fuse was out. I heard the vehicle start to crank a little slower after that so I put the battery back on the charger and I'm going to get spark plugs, ATF, oil, and oil filter tomorrow to try the hands on procedure

And obviously I've put new gas in it. I realized that my earlier post said I drained the tank and tried to start it without stating I put new gas in.

Have you tested to see if you're actually getting spark? If you are, then check to see if you're actually getting fuel.

My buddy's FC sat for a few years as well. It was getting spark but wouldn't start. We were able to get it started with some start fluid which lead us to suspect fuel pump or fuel line/filter clogged.

I am getting spark but i can't hear the fuel pump engage when i turn the key on. How else can I check for fuel?

The pump kicks in when the car is in START position..then when it fires up the Air Flow meter tells the pump to Stay ON.

I almost got the vehicle to fire fully with some ether. made sure vehicle has gas. checked for spark all the way to plugs. pulled them and inspected. Not terrible but will replace once I can get the vehicle to fire. put transmission fluid in spark plug holes and cranked to reseal and lubricate. Lunch time. We didn't quite follow the procedure completely so we're going to give it another go in a bit

Should I be able to audibly hear the pump kick in?
