Separating the diff casing
This may sound like a dumb question but im trying to disassemble an s4 NA lsd but i cant seem to separate the top of the gear casing from the bottom. I've taken out the bolts and screws from the casing but its not seeming to budge. The FSM says to secure the lsd to a vise and remove the knock pin but I dont see a knock pin anywhere. Do I actually have to remove a knock pin? If so can someone give me a visual on where it is? If not do I just to put more strength into it?

Also realized last night that im dumb and was looking at the wrong page of the fsm for the normal diff not the limited slip. But still cant get the top of the gear casing from the bottom. Do i have to remove the bottom bearing?

Alright pictures might help explain my situation a little better.
As you can see I've removed all the bolts and screws from the top but it doesnt want to separate. Am I not doing something correctly or is it just being difficult?

You need to get the bearings pressed off/separated.

You dont need to remove the bearings...... you need something with a sharp edge like an old wide chisel to tap into the split between the cap and the body...... do use a screwdriver as it will damage the surfaces and create high spots when you put it back together. Rotate it around as you tap the old chisel into the split and it willl eventually come away.
