S5 TII worth?
 

There's a "How to value your FD" thread in the 3rd gen section, but I don't see anything similar for FC's.

I've had my FD for 25 years, and had ~10 FC's, but haven't done much for the last 10 years.

I'm just curious how much you guys think a clean S5 TII is going for now days.
I'm thinking of selling in the next couple months and doing some research on what to ask, I hope the mods don't mind.
The last couple S5 TII's on BaT have gone for over $30k, but not sure if it's trending down.

1989, 84k miles
All stock except for Turbo-back RB exhaust, boost gauge, FCD, & short shifter.
Exterior 9/10 (just a couple of rock chips)
Interior - 9.5/10 (perfect except for the A-pillar, hole for the boost gauge pod)
A/C blows cold, heater's great, new tires (since the pic below).
The only things that aren't perfect is the stereo screen, and a small oil leak.
Cluster was also replaced by the dealer years ago, sticker in the door sill with the mileage when it was changed.
Thoughts?

Iit seems like any clean S5 TII is still a $20,000+ car in the right venue. The market is softening, but S5 TIIs are rare as hens teeth.

its hard to set a value because one sold for $65k and the other was like $20 something, and those are the only examples we have!

Where were those sold, on BaT, and more importantly, what kind of condition were they in? I'd guess the $65K one was a super low miles, all original OEM museum piece example that the collector types go crazy for, and the $20K one was probably a well sorted out resto-mod, that's a turn-key solid driver's car? Agree the market sample size is small, which makes valuation very difficult.

I've had my S5T2 for 25 years, but In the last 3 years since I've acquired & built my FD, I haven't had as much time to drive & enjoy my S5T2 as I used to, so I've been contemplating selling it. Though I'm so attached to the FC that it would take lots of $$$ to pry it away from me! It's best described as that well-sorted out resto-mod driver's FC - it looks like almost new OEM, but with a lot more punch in the performance & reliability department. Dyno at about 360RWHP in 2017 and did all the corresponding turbo/fuel/engine management mods. As of today, it has high chassis miles (~175K), but low engine miles (~15K, built in 2017), 9/10 body/paint, 9+/10 interior, and all key systems/accessories were restored over time to work as intended. Where do you all think I should price this if I decide to let it go?

Great thread. Albeit I do not own a real S5 TII I did my best to model one (late Infini) This is my second FC in 20+ years and the results I've achieved have far exceeded my expectations of what the car could become.

Since it's a "swap" car I don't think I could get much above $15,000 for it. I do love seeing the trends of Actual S5 TII's climbing. The 2200 mile example was absolutely mint...

Interesting sale, really nice S5T2 collector car example, but in reading the comments the buyer here was the wife of a guy who's been lusting for one for a long time, and she mentioned in comments that it sucked that the bidding went so high, but that she would have bid anything to get it! Crazy emotional auction response I guess.

Another clean example, but with a bit more miles on it (67K). Not really sure why that one bid & sold for as high as it did ($34K), because I suspect it had some resto-mod work done to it - don't recall Mazda ever making a S5T2 with grey cloth seats & dash/door panels. Thought all the S5T2's (in the USDM at least) came with black leather interiors?

If anything can be gleaned from these sales and the other sales linked, is that very low miles and originality get top dollar.

My thread went a week with no replies so I thought people didn't really know or care to reply.

The last 2 S5 TII's on BaT that I referenced in my original post were these:

The TII that sold for $63k was only 2,200 miles, and the wife really wanted it for her husband. I can just chalk that up as an outlier.

There's quite a few S4 TII's and 10AE's on BaT as well, but not S5's. I guess these are even more rare than I was expecting.
Not that BaT is the end-all for pricing out cars, but I guess it gives me an idea. I went through the Marketplace on here and there weren't any S5 TII's that were even listed, just WTB's.
I couldn't find any S5 TII's for sale on Autotrader, CarGuru's, carsforsale.com, ebay, cars.com, Hemmings, or Autoblog.
