Power Steering Question

I had asked in the newbie section about power steering pumps, but I figured I'd follow up in the FC section.

I've been able to source a S4 pump to install into my '87 that is currently missing it due to a previous owner not reinstalling the pump during an engine swap. What I'd like to know, that is if anyone has the info, what are the length and pitch of the bolts that mount the pump to the block? I have a feeling these were discarded with the pump... Also, from what I was told, the lines to the rack are ziptied out the way, but are still there. In the case they need to be replaced anyone have a good source? I've checked with Mazda and it seems they still have them, but I wanted to see if anyone had a preferred source or a hydraulic shop they have ordered them from online.

Besides that, when it comes to the type F ATF for fluid anyone have any recommendations?

Thanks!

The pump is mounted to a bracket. That bracket is bolted to the engine and also supports the a.c. compressor should the car have a.c. There were different brackets available. Ones with no a.c. but power steering and ones with no power steering but with a.c.

Try Rockauto.com for the hoses. Rockauto should be much cheaper than Mazda.

The FSM calls for ATF Dexron-II or M-III. I had a hard time finding either of those ATF's since they're outdated and nearly obsolete by today's standards. I replaced my PS pump a couple months ago and used Red Line Synthetic Oil D4 ATF.

@mazdaverx713b I believe the pump I got should be coming with a bracket. I just need to find the bolts to mount the bracket to the rotor housings.

@Hot_Dog Doh! Why didn't I think of RockAuto... I'll check them out and see what I can find. I'm hoping the hoses on the car are good, but we will see. I just need to flush the lines and the rack. As for the fluid, everything I'm seeing on the forum searches are all conflicting, how has the Red Line been working out? Have any issues with leaks? Anyone else using it?

The Red Line ATF has been working fine for me. I talked to a Red Line tech service person and that's what he recommended. No leaks with the reman pump that I bought from Rockauto (BBB / VISION-OE 9900377 {#5054} (Without Reservoir)). If you Google, than you should find lots of discussion regarding PS fluid but just make sure you use ATF otherwise it may lead to early failure of your pump.
