GTUS interior restoration, tips appreciated

3 Attachment(s)
I'm currently restoring the interior of my 89 GTUS

I started with one thing then quickly escalated

I have since purchased 4 other FCs to complete 2 GTUS models I own a a 89 and a 90

So here I am

I spent a few days cleaning the carpet
Added baking soda to take out scents.
I'm going to add charcoal inside to really get any scents out completely.

I vacuumed everything and started wiping the dust of everything.

Almost every part was fragile and kept breaking

I will post more photos shortly

It really helps having multiple cars to take parts off and swap bad parts for good

Since I'm replacing the full dash I think I need
I should replace the carpet

Can someone point me to a good carpet source

I want 1 piece, I went to search button but the few places that has them went out of business

The old carpet doesn't look too bad but I'd prefer new since in already This knee deep

I'm not putting a budget on this, it's a no expenses spared type interior restoration
I want everything perfect.

Shifter
Shift boot
Hand brake
All went to get wrapped in leather

Any help and tips will be appreciated

Is this a restoration or a resto mod?

if it's no expense spared, replace as many of those broken plastic pieces as you can with new OEM parts.

Put a stock radio back in.

the factory carpets are really nice, just a good cleaning with like a wet dry vacuum works wonders, and you'll be amazed at the junk that comes out of it.

for the rest just buy new stuff from Mazda, its not even that expensive

nice! i didn't know there was another GTUs so near me. I picked up an 89 black/black

I cleaned the carpet with exception of one spot
Yes it is very beefy, first coat of baking soda worked it actually came up and turned yellow (gross) so yes it works

I took apart another fc down to the bare chassis so I used that as experimentation to remove a dash, unfortunately the dash fell apart into a million pieces, hopefully this isn't the case as I want to get better at removing dashes

The next interior step is to refresh the entire HVAC system, having done numerous porsche ones in the past I know these things are beyond filthy.

Not to mention I want to clean or replace the heater core.
The a/c is staying on this car as it was converted to r134 already.
My other GTUS will be non a/c

More photos to follow

I will be doing a round two pretty soon. The interior is taking a back seat.

As I pulled the engine out yesterday for a rebuild.

Bronin is your GTUS running
I'm curious does any one have a picture of what the fuse cover looks like ?
The one on my car says "abs" in one slot, trivial yes but I like correct parts on the small details.

If your car is running drop by I got a small shop in south El Monte

There isn't really a suitable carpet replacement other than a clean OEM one. As long as there are no heavy wear areas, you should be able to bring it back to life.

I saw a detailer use air to blow out the dirt from a carpet that look pretty good already. A ton of dust was flying and the carpet looked better. Good luck with your resto

I got a air compressor and used it all over the car made a huge difference

But I think using the baking soda for a week definitely ate up any smell

Luckily this wasn't a wet weather car

I haven't touched the interior at all
I've been to wrapped up in the engine bay

I'm about to restore all the hardware at a cad plating place. Then repainting all brackets and misc hardware that is black.

I really need to get to that heater core bad!

Mazdatrix... That is all you will need to know for this project lol

I heard that black dragon is carrying more FC parts, however you will need to call them about the parts you are seeking as the catalog is mostly Nismo crap now.
