Fc 86-91 windshield all the same?
I found a convertible windshield is it the same as a coupe?
|
Nevermind l should have done a search, yes they are the same according to lcemark.
|
just the internal front windshield antenna. but most wouldn't notice it being gone unless you want the car to retain all factory options as originally fitted.
but it's all moot, there is no windshields out there anymore, not that i can find. |

Its the black paint on the sides of the windows thats the difference. I had to put an S4 windshield on my S5 and the black paint doesnt cover my automatic belt a pillars because those are wider on the s5. So you can see some of the wiring in there...That and no radio antenna.

Great. Mine's got a big crack in it. I should have replaced it a couple years ago when Safelite still had S4 windshields showing as available.
mine has been cracked since i bought the car 22 years ago but the crack only keeps getting worse over time. of course now that i want to restore the car i can't find one. |
I bought mine new last year
https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rx7...2b9829b0b7.jpg it showed up on ebay. Fuyao makes the glass now, its part # m848 or fw521 for S4 (which fits s5 but less of the side paint).Maybe you can reach out to fuyao they make glass in Michigan i think and do a lot of OEMs. https://fuyaousa.com/ |

Next windshield i crack im gonna literally email fuyao customer service and find out where that product shipped to...

they probably don't ship them anywhere, shops have to order them. they're likely sitting in a warehouse in their inventory until depleted by orders before another run is done.
with how few are ordered anymore, most glass shops won't bother ordering them. i called safelite and the appointment lady who called me back was rather rude and said "oh, we don't have them, your car is too old" and hung up before offering any solutions. most independent shops won't even get back to me. so i will likely have to provide my own windshield. hate seeing all the local scrap cars go to the crusher with good windshields, i might just pick up one of these tools for damageless removal. most quotes i have seen for those aftermarket windows are $300 plus $200 shipping, then the installers costs, plus you'll likely need the $100 factory seals. might just live with the crack indefinitely for a $1000 repair bill, or cover the car with full coverage for a year and let insurance figure out how to replace it. |
