Clutch issues. Need help

Hi guys.

Wouldnt normally post and look through over threads but this one is a strange one.

I have a rx7 fc turbo 1986.
i recentle did a rebuild. New engine works well but clutch wont work. I have done new everything. New master and slave. New braided line. Bleed lots of times. Have had the tranny off twice. New pilot bearing. Adjusted fork and checked bearing but still wont work. The pedal has feel but dosnt engage the clutch. I have the rod fully extended as far as it can go aswell.

Any thoughts. any help would be great.

Do you mean by any chance the pedal doesn't DISENGAGE the clutch? Any chance the friction plate was installed backwards?

Other questions:
Did you machine the flywheel? If you did, did you take off much, and did you machine the surface where the dowels go?
Did you try using the old master and slave?

@pfsantos Tryed using the old slaves but same resault. And havnt touch the fly wheel. Same one i was running before the engine blew. As for the friction plate it sits flush down on the flywheel right.

The clutch pedal has good feel but top end is alittle weak

when you push the clutch, does the slave and fork move? where did you get your parts? are they the correct T2 stuff?

David Crooky 12-19-19 03:19 PM

@j9fd3s all correct stuff. The slave moves but i would.say only 3/4 of the way out. Its like there is to much pressure to move the clutch. There is.100% no air bubbles in the.system

You may have a bad pressure plate. Normally I would think that there is air in the clutch master cylinder. I've had a faulty clutch master right out of the box one time. Bench bled another new one and installed it and all was fine. Is the clutch pedal difficult to depress?

i'd suspect a clutch disc that is backwards, or something that isn't correct for the car (wrong parts)

Is the clutch fork pivot bolt intact?
Bent clutch fork
I think the throwout bearing can be installed backwards too

The throwout bearing cannot be installed backwards. Bent clutch fork or faulty pivot ball perhaps.
