Car starts easier when cold when foot is pressed all the way down on gas pedal

cranked way quicker and fired right up when I started it with my foot to the floor on the gas pedal. 30 degree weather. Any ideas?

cold start? modded? stock ecu? need details lol, 100% throttle usuall cuts injectors as a flood clear not sure if factory ecu does it

Stock ECU. Cranked it a few times it would not start, pressed my foot all the way down on the gas and cranked, started right up.

Yes it’s an S5 and it only happened on a cold start, once I was moving it around it would start right up without pressing the pedal all the way down

My thoughts are fuel pump might be after market creating more fuel pressure then needed would be my guess. Options to fix are.

1. Just feather the throttle or press it down to start like you did.
2. Get a Fuel Pressure Regulator so it can set the fuel pressure to normal.
3. Buy an after market ECU that can adjust fuel at cranking.

I have an 1988 turbo II which is an S4. I had a fuel cut swtich for the longest time that worked great, but mainly needed it for the hot starts. Now I have a aftermarket ECU and that takes care of it.

That actually makes more sense, because back when I first got it wasn’t wanting to start up, (vacuum leaks) and when I pumped the throttle a bit it would sound like it wanted to catch more

Update. Vacuum leaks fixed, car is idiling great now, like it should. Still having the same problem where it sometimes starts with my foot all the way to the floor and sometimes with me not touching the throttle at all. Usually ill crank it without touching the pedal and hear it kinda catch but not start so I’ll stop cranking wait a few seconds and put my foot to the floor on the gas pedal and crank, and boom starts right up.

Bump. Any ideas?

I'd get the injectors serviced if they never have

I’m starting to think it’s the starter. I’m gonna get it tested it, after all it was sitting in the trunk when I bought the car lol

will not having an 02 sensor affect the idle?

Yes.

Okay, putting one in since the car doesn’t have one. I also know that the throttle linkage is a bit messed up. (Need New TB soon) we tightened the cable as much as we could and the idle was perfect. But then after letting it sit for a day, and coming back and letting it run, the idle went back to hunting between 750-1000 rpm
