AC compressor test. 86 N/A

I have been living without AC for some time and obviously it would be nice for it to work.

Originally I thought that the compressor was bad but now I think my logicon is bad. (fan slider can still command fan operation)

I was wondering if I could take the single wire from my sandeen compressor and attach it directly to the battery + side for a test to see if the clutch engages and it actually starts cooling the Freon.

I can't seem to get the compressor clutch to engage when I hit the ac button on the logicon. . . .. It would not surprise me if I need to pull the logicon and re-solder all the points.

Can I run a test like this? . . I guess I need to make sure the air temp control slider is actually moved to the cool side. I think I can hear the air blend door move when I move the slider.

A test like this will tell me where I need to focus my efforts.. . Thanks

Was cruising the fox website wiring diagram and saw there is a main ac relay located in the front the engine bay? .. Is this relay obtainable? Can I apply 12volts to some pins to check operation?

I just recharged the ac on my 90’ vert, but when I went to add the Freon I ran into the same issue. The ac light would come on but no voltage at the compressor clutch. I ran a jumper direct to battery+ and it worked well enough for me to fill the Freon. As it turns out the ac relay (no idea where it is) gets its power from the 30amp breaker and from the 15 amp cigar fuse. In my case the cigarette lighter was shorting and blowing the cigar fuse and cutting power to the relay.

Good stuff . . . The cigarette lighter works in my car but I haven't dug into the 30 amp fuse . . .I believe it is under the kick panel on the driver side? The 30 amper?

And I wish I knew for certainly where the AC relay was located. .. .

Thanks. . .. .More work to be done.

My logicon/compressor in my T2 was disabled because prev owner broke not just 1 ground but both grounds on each side of the radiator (they go to the a/c components in front of radiator, one's near /under battery and other is under air intake filter box, they come out of the main harness's on each side and are single black wire very easy to pinch or break so look for those as well !!!)

If it’s like my car it’s the big breaker on top, see if the button is popped out but if your blower motor works it should be fine.

Check out the service manual for more info but I think 9 is what you’re looking for

There's a reset breaker of some kind on the AC circuit and it's located under the driver side kick panel? .. Did I read that right?. . .It's not a fuse?

I must say, breaker reset would be easy.

On the s5’s at least it’s in the top right of the interior fuse box.
