3rd Gen Rims on a 1990 TII Help Please!
 

I can't seem to find all of the info I need, maybe I'm searching forum incorrectly appreciate your help. I'm assuming I can't use the stock tires that I have on my TII now (215/55/16)? I don't want the rims to stick past my fenders but I want a pretty even look. I've heard that I would need 20mm spacers in front and back? What size tires do you recommend that won't be bulky? Do I need to get longer studs and lug nuts? Also maybe thinking of getting the next size up in the back. I appreciate your help! Do I need to use the stock 3rd gen size 225/50/16? Will this size be too bulky on a 2nd gen?

rears will, fronts need a spacer, and thus don't really fit very well

I had 3rd gen rims on my 90 for several years. I just took them off and sold them. The wheels need to be spaced out nearly an inch due to not only being wider but the different offset. The rears will directly bolt on but sit too far inward and look bad. The fronts will not bolt on as the tire hits the springs. You need to use spacers. I still have my spacers and have no use for them. Once you do that, the wheels fit. You'll need to roll the inner edge of the front fenders so the tires don't catch on them. This is with stock 3rd gen sized 225/50/16 tires. I removed mine because the greater front end offset increases the scrub radius and you feel every little bump and crack in the road trying to turn the car. It's annoying. I'm back to 205 tires on stock 91 TII rims and it drives so much nicer. If you want to give them a try, I'll gladly sell you my spacers cheap but it isn't going to drive as nice.
