^Thanks so much. So close, but I don't see the "C" on the shaft though. Am I missing anything?
[img]https://www.rx7club.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=155995&d= 1139716044[/img] The letter code is stamped on the other side. Its not like how the housing and side plates are stamped...with the letter and number right next to each other.. The e-shafts have the letter code stamped and then you rotate the shaft and you see the actual number stamped in.. From the old thread, I did not take a pic of the letter stamping BTW: I had 2 new D code e-shafts, one I planned on keeping and one I was willing to sell...well the extra e-shaft I had was sold late last week.. So I now only have one left which I plan on keeping.. |

David on further investigation both of my shafts don't have matching numbers but the letters do. At first when I said the numbers matched I was only looking at the 'B' motor where the shaft was in the 700's and also the block. But at closer look the numbers didn't actually match. When I finally looked at the 'C' motor and shaft yes the letters on the shaft were 'C' and 'D' codes but the number did not match. The Motor was a C780 and shaft was C 70. So in the end the shaft from the 'B' motor have the letters 'A' and 'B' stamped on it and the shaft from the 'C' motor has the letters 'C' and 'D' stamped on it. I took some pics and will post them up later. Sorry about the confussion is any was caused. |

This is the 'C'-'D' code shaft.
It's not letting me upload the pic with the letter codes on it. |

FYI - Carlos was working on my dynamic balancing and brought to my attention one of my rotors was not a 20B, but a 13RW rotor so we had to overnight a 20B rotor to him. |
#756 needs a rebuild. I think it's factory. The shaft is the easiest way to tell. I'll know more once I open her up.

You have two "E" series engines? I think I hate you:)

meanwhile, i'm going to look for a few pics i saw showing different series rotors sliced down the middle of the compression face(s). |

Cut them open, right down the middle and you'll clearly see the difference.

Well , I know HWND has a great e shaft:) and he's doing a fantastic build up. Still jealous of the E code thing though.

Cosmo vs. REW Rotor

One on the right: Cosmo Same CR, Same thin casting, Same approx weight, Different Combustion chambers, Hence different flame propagation characteristics. Therefore, will tune accordingly. Both are interchangeable, Personally, would not mix them in the same engine ! http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1..._IRjpgcrop.jpg |
From what I understood, the motors they had set aside for warranty replacements were mostly the "D" series motors.
I think we need some proof. I'm curious if someone got an "E" and stamped it in front of the numbers on their "no letter" (ie. 001-999) first batch motor. With all due respect, it sounds a little fishy to have TWO "E" series motors. |

I have 3X20B engines and none of this engines has matching engine/shaft numbers. What i can see none of this 3 engines has been rebuild so i dont think the shaft number match the engine number.

I also have 3..
1st is a D591 with black round the 20B.. I got it from the states, the guys cleaned it with water, the rear LIM gasket was broken and because they cleaned it water came in the rear rotor.. then it was more than a month in a container for shipping.. when it got here the water had destroyed the 2 rear sideplates.. But the rotorhousings and rest of the engine is really in mint condidtion.. hopefully I can get the new sideplates from Japan2LA.. 2nd I have is a C5xx, its in my cosmo weekend driver, still running great.. (stock) 3rd just arrived yesterday from LA.. its a B778 I bought it from edg-group (ebay seller) the claimed it have good compression.. I didn't measured it yet but when you turn over the engine it doesn't feel near good compression.. screwed again for the second time probaly :suspect: :anger: It really pisses me off that they claim good engines an ship crap.. then after a month you open the box and you get a scrap engine.. don't know whats wrong with these people.. |
I have 4 of these babies...
Axxx Bxxx D409 D553 :) Scrolling through many threads on a few forums i've been able to account for 21 C-series and 28 D-series engines. That leaves another 1,951 C/D-series engines out there:lol: Cheers Daniel |
Mine is D303, so there is another one accounted for.
|
mine is c883
craigny1 |
Just got D 220 in from Japan. Currently I am looking for a new home for it...
|
Keep them coming guys... only another 1,948 C/D-series engines to track down:)
Cheers Daniel |
