NA SemiPP 20b RX8

This is more of a place holder for now. Engine is purchased, but won't be ready till around June / July. Then it's off to the fabricator to get it in the car. Lastly wiring and tune.

Goal 350-450WHP NA
Preferably over 400WHP (very possible). 450WHP not likely (being a realist)

Mazmart
B series motor purchased. Reliable source, and on the shelf.

Built by Myles Fisher
9.7 NA rotors
1" ID Semi PPort
Undecided on modifying the stock ports. Will probably need to in order to meet goal WHP range.

Fabrication by Coffee Fabrication
Undecided on intake and LIM design
90MM DBW throttle body
Flaming River custom steering rack. Little faster ratio than stock
MK3 MR2 Electric power steering pump
Undecided on hooking up the speed sensor to the pump

Wiring by LMS-EFI
AEM 710 ECU
Stock ECU retention for OBDII readiness checks, AC, etc
Relocate both ECUs from the engine bay
Full engine bay rewire and wire tuck
Maybe relocate / hide stock fuse box

Myles picked the engine up from MazMart. Probably wont really be any updates till after DGRR.

Have to admit that it's a little annoying not being able to edit my posts. 7club seems to be the other forum I use that does that.

I am pretty sure you won't get to even 350 whp with a single 90mm throttle body.

It'll be a semi PP, so plenty of port area. 90mm DBW TB for the primary and secondaries, and ITBs for the semi PP. Very similar setup to defined, and they're making like 475 WHP now I think.

It does according to LMS-EFI, but most likely I'll be using the Haltech.

Not sure I said that but, if I did, I mis-spoke. The 506 is the only one that has rotary support.

No problem. Then Haltech it is! lol

I hate that you cant edit posts on 7 club. Also that stupid quick reply bar makes the site all glitchy.

Some people might be curious about the rest of the car...

LEG Motorsports RX8-Vision carbon front bumper
Vertex Lang sides and rear bumper
Panspeed wide front and rear fenders
AutoExe SE03 hood
AutoExe SE02 duktail trunk
RE Amemiya carbon tail lights and AD Pro fender mirrors

Probably a couple more things before it goes to paint (after the engine).

Once the body shop and builder are done, it will move a lot faster... I don't want to rush professional work. Fortunately the only deadline I have is "running by DGRR 2018". I would love to have it done much sooner though.

They're pretty difficult to find. White is the most rare. Red seems to be the most common surprisingly. I would recommend keeping an eye on yahoo auctions japan and upgarge. I have a broker that will handle the auction, or part purchase and shipping. I've used them several times and they're dependable. I purchased 3 red seats through them. They're automotive business I purchased all my body panels through, so they have 2 sides. You'll have to physically find the seats yourself though.

Still think you're nuts for not looking at the coming Adaptronic RX8 Modular PNP standalone replacement ecu that will provide full CAN control over the existing system while also fully supporting the 20B

I actually am considering it heavily. I already talked to turblown about it. If I go that route I'm getting a second DBW card to run the ITBs on the semi pports.

My only issue with it is that It will not pass emissions without leaving the stock ECU in place. In which case, everything will still be custom to wire in both ECUs into the system... I'm looking into adding traction control to my car since it's a base base model. So it's either haltec's built in TSC, or get the stock TC working in my car that didn't come with it.

I could possibly register the car at my dads house without emissions, but I don't like that as a long term solution.

pass OBD2 with a 20B conversion?

I'll believe it when I see it. That will be way beyond what anyone is doing now in that regard. The exception imo is if the other replacement ecu we're discussing offers an "all passed" spoofed test output program.

The plan was to keep the stock ECU in there in parallel so all the readiness checks could be set... in some manner... That's all my local emissions checks for. There's no visual or sniff test done. Most likely it'll be registered in a different county for now.

Thought I'd give an update since it's been a while.

With the S2 front swap the Panspeed fenders will require too much work to match with the S2 Spirit R lights and to widen them. I have gone with the Lions Kit V2.

The eshaft is out of alignment, and the kink is too close to a lobe to be straightened. Per Rick Engman the motor will have an 8500 RPM redline, max do to the shaft issues, but should be fine otherwise. This makes the original NA build pointless, as to reach the power goals, we would need to spin it higher.

Rotors are back from Chip Motorsports. Lightened, balanced, and side clearanced. Image attached.

An adapter kit has just been released for the 370z JK40C transmission to bolt to rotary engines, so I'm going that route for the transmission as it should hold a LOT more power than any of the RX8 solutions at a reasonable price.
For anyone interested in the transmission adapter: JK40C/CD009 Transmission from 370Z on 13B

The motor has been large street ported, and it will also have a small half bridge instead of the semi pports. The setup is changing to a single turbo, and vmount setup. It's scheduled to go into the fabricator March 3rd to have the turbo plumbed and for a little "Hammer Time" on the tunnel for the new transmission. Hopefully I'll have everything else ready before the fabricator, so once he's done, it can go straight off for tuning. Going to try and have it ready for DGRR 2019... We'll see how that goes...

Doesn't look like I've posted everything else I've gotten or done to this thread.
Autoexe big break kit.
Lions Kit V2 fenders (50mm front 70mm rear)
Volk SF-Challenge Wheels - Gold (19x9.5F 19x10.5R)
Adaptornic PNP stand alone ECU
Mazdaspeed 5.12 rear gear (for now)
RE Pro-AD fender Mirrors
Carbon-Zylon Roof (Should be finished next week)
Legg Motorsports RX8 Vision Carbon Bumper
Autoexe ducktail trunk
Autoexe Hood
Vertex Lang side skirts and rear bumper
