Rear main seal question
 

I think my rear main seal is leaking.. I have oil dripping from somewhere which seems worse when the car is on. It's mostly centered in the back of the oil pan and the bellhousing. My oil pan gasket is only a year old, so I think that should be ok. It's been dripping on my garage floor for awhile, and I am thinking of fixing it on upcoming weekend.

I just had a couple questions... which P/N do I need for a D-series 20b for the main seal and the o-ring? I may do pilot bearing and throwout bearing while I'm at it. Is there anything else I need to switch out while I'm there? I couldn't find any good instructions on how to do this unfortunately. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I assume just take the transmission and flywheel off, and get to the seal somehow while not moving the e-shaft. Thank you in advance.

OK I found all RX7 and RX8 use the same rear seal and rear stationary gear o-ring.

Is there any common pitfall or common parts to replace while I'm at it? Thanks!

Rx7 & Rx8 do not use the same rear oring and seal, oring orientation is completely different. The 20b uses the RX7 parts.

after I take the flywheel nut off, do I just carefully pry the seal out and replace it with new one? and is the o-ring pretty self-explanatory to replace once I get there? just scared of doing this job with nothing to guide me. I realize I shouldn't rotate the eshaft once the flywheel nut is off, but that's pretty much all the guideline I have. I plan to do the job while the engine is in the car. Thanks in advance.
