Plans for a supercharged 20b

I think i finally decided on what i want to go with as far as an engine.A extended street/exhuast ported ATI procharged 20b.

Ive emailed RICE RACING to check on pricing for a built block that would be ready just to install.

I finally recieved a bunch of my MOMO interior gear today. It is sweetness.

My goal is about 450 odd horsepower.

I would have a custom bracket made for the procharger.

How would size up a blower(centrifugal)for the 20b for a good bottom end and 450 odd horsepower? Remember the engine alone is going to be about 320+/- hp itself.

Ive done math calculations with stangnet's hp to weight ratio, 1/4 times and rear end gearing. So 450 will suit me fine. I dont think I need some crazy amount like 700. That is appearing to me to be an ignorant amt, unless it is strictly for the strip. The power im looking to attain will most definitely suit the strip/street/autocross events.Plus a charger can be unhooked in a couple minutes without modifying the exhuast system. I would unhook it for autocross events. I can then have crisp n/a controllable power.

thanx

You may want to spend a little time and money on research before spending a lot of time and a lot of money on parts and labor.

BTW, supercharged cars tend to perform very well in autocross events.

a whipple sounds nice.

but i think i will stay with the centrifugal

thanx for the link

as for supercharger and auto-x.i meant i could disconnect the pulley and run only 300-320hp instead of 450+/-.

I don't think that will work very well. Besides, the centrifugal SC makes very little low-end boost. Its boost profile is very linear, like this: / , not to be confused with a Roots or Lysholm (Whipple) boost profile that looks like this: r

Sorry for the lame attempt at graphics, lol. Anyway, the centrifugal SC is going to act just like a turbocharger, except that its speed varies directly with the engine rpm rather than with engine load. This is NOT a "high torque", "low end power" or "instant boost" performance item, but rather a high-rpm performance item similar to a turbocharger.

so it'll be perfect for a rotary :D
