Nike Ad featuring my 20B (installed in a 1988 10th Anniversary Edition RX-7)

This is the full spread ad on the inside front cover of Men's Health (February 2004). It features the Nike Shox Turbo. The guys at Corksport.com made this possible. As a premier performance engine shop in Portland (catering to Mazdas), it's one of the first places Nike called for a photo shoot. It's a great showcase to the fantastic work they do and the attention to detail that Pineapple Racing puts into their performance engines.

I was paid $300 and gave up my rights to royalties...
$300 is $300 and it's just cool that a rotary rngine is being featured in some advertising...

That is very cool, i think i'll go pick up a copy of the mag just for that.

I hate Nike, but for 300 beans I would do the exact same thing (Y)

weird ad for a shoe, but hey its still cool to get your car in a magazine :D

You think if it's a "turbo" shoe, they'd show it with a big single turbo or something...? Confusing ad to me.

this is the most confusing ad ever. i was wondering why they'd specifically choose a 3 rotor turbo for the ad vs. a piston turbo engine. i thought they had something specific in mind for rotaries, and more specifically 3 rotors. but the centerpiece of the ad is the fuckin alternator, so what the hell is going on?

They weren't specifically looking for a 20B or a rotary engine. The Ad Agency (based in Portland) simply was looking for dressed up engines that might be used in an ad. They went to several performance shops, and in fact came back to Corksport to review my car agian before making a final decision. I think you guys are putting way too much thought into this. I realize that few poeple will recognize what they are looking at. This was done somewhat purposely as they only needed permission from me. Several items have been airbrushed out so that it doesn't give away who the manufacturer is. I guess they didn't want to ask a bunch of people's permission, including Mazda. At any rate, I just thought it was neat that a rotary engine - for the enjoyment of rotary fans - was going to be used in an ad.
