Half Bridge 20b N/a (9.7cr rotors)
 

Anyone have any experience / information on doing a half bridge 20b n/a?

I'm about to start porting, and was thinking large streetport but am contemplating trying a half bridge instead.

The car is going to be mainly driven on the street, with occasional track days thrown in.

Anyone have any info / links to other cars with similar builds?

probably need to be a little more specific as to what kind of info are you seeking.

how to port the engine? dyno sheets? what it drives like? etc.

I dont like to link my own stuff, but it may help you with some things. I personally wouldnt do a bridge, simply due to the fact of how rare/hard to get the 20B plates are.

hehe gtorx7, it's ok i've seen your thread tons of times, pretty much why i decided to go 20b n/a instead of a 13bre single :) (except my car is a fc)

I've already decided what to do, just wanted to see if there was any hbp 20b n/a's that i could ogle

I couldn't have said it better. I think because of this reason I'd rather do a P-port instead.


-TAL- what info are you looking for? Like streetability of a bridged 20b? I can't say from personal experience but I'd imagine a HBP\BP 3 rotor would be more streetable than a HBP\BP 2 rotor simply due to the extra available torqe down low that the 3 rotor has.

Well i've already made the jump and decided to go with a half bridged 20b n/a. Just really hoping to see some similar mods and power output / driveability opinions etc.

Budget was a definate issue for me, but i didn't want a turbo car. So here i am. Should be something different atleast :)

I'm in the process of planning an N/A 20B build. I'm probably going to go p-port though. I'm planning on building a short 20B using a Jeff Bruce kit. Wayyy cheaper than buying the same parts through Kiwi-RE. I've already got a spare 13B engine sitting around and I'll probably have another one for spares (gotta get the car first). A p-port would also make custom manifolding a bit easier.

The idea is to make 300+ whp while maintaining good driveability though, so it's not going to be a very big p-port.

Rarson I am on a similar quest myself ( Short Crank, N/A P port 20B). I was under the impression that Jeff Bruce was part of the Kiwi RE operation, if he has a differn't contact you wouldn't mind passing it along would you?

Yeah, no problem. I got the info off aurotary and nopistons. Actually, Jeff20b on nopistons is building a 12A based 4-rotor! His kit winded up about $3500 when all was said and done (that's freaking cheap!).

Since I'll be using 2 13B center plates, I'm thinking about just using an RX-8 6-speed tranny, moving the engine back ~4 inches to use the second middle plate and stock engine mounts and just making a new tranny mount. That would mean the extra rotor is essentially added to the rear of the engine which might help handling a bit.

Answered my own question. 6x550's should support a fair amount of hp.
