changing to a 20b from a 13b

I want to change the size of engine in my '87 is this going to be hard and what all am I going to need to convert every thing? Like drive shafts and such. I have not a big clue on what I am doing but I know peaple who are able to do these things. I just don't want some dumb freak telling me lies or telling me that I can't.

The first step is to have a minumum of $10k to start with. Then the purchasing can begin.

OK, you know people who are able to do these things, so why aren't you asking them what it takes to install a 20B? For all you know, the people on the internet replying to this post could all be a bunch of idiots who are telling lies.

The current 20B conversion price for professional work is about $35,000. The price is reduced if you can perform some of the work yourself, of course, and someone with a good auto shop and excellent mechanical skills can perform the 20B conversion for about $10,000. It sounds like you will need to budget $35,000 due to your lack of skills. Fortunately, there are hardly any things in this world that money cannot conquer. :D

These are the top two RX-7 20B engine conversion performance shops in the US:

Just curious, If you were to buy the whole front clip of the 20b cosmo, And istalled it as an automatic (just for starters) would it be easier to get the isstall done? seeing as you woldnt have to fabricate gearboxes and such, plus you get the original harness as well... It might keep costs down. Just a question as the cars here in our country are grey imports from Japan, RHD. Would istallation be much easier? Is it an ideal place to start from if someone were to do this install.

sure it's easier,but not a drop-in thing.
normally ppl have to make custom rad, to cool the engine right.

and this is kinda long... i just forgot. heheh
just do it! you'll *know*what to do/what we mean when you're there.

i think ...

I realize that parts are still gonna have to be purchased... My question is if the actual install of the engine would be simpler

Jeff20B 12-21-03 05:44 PM

Aftermarket motormounts simplify the installation.

Does the auto gearbox line up... Can it be considered "staright fwd" to some extent?
