20b vs ls1 weight?

ok so this has prob been asked before but wich is gonna weigh more a s5 with stock 20btt or a s5 with stock ls1?

the 20btt will weigh more, but if you compare n/a 20b to n/a LS1, it'll be a helluva lot closer, and the 20b will be lighter. of course someone will come argue this and claim an LS1 weighs 400 pounds and a 20b weighs 900, but whatever.

I was at racing beat early this year picking up an exhaust, they where setting up a car with a 20B single turbo with stock intake manifolds. The guy who helped me load the exhaust in my car said they weighed it in at 310 pounds with accessorys, that can't be with the turbo. I don't know what an Ls1 weighs, but I would say that even with the turbo the 20B would be a little lighter. They also had a 13b built with aluminum side housing that, block only weighed under 100 pounds (claimed).

An aluminum LS1 weighs 460 pounds in long block trim. A cast iron 350 weighs 575 pounds in long block form (cast iron intake, etc.). a 13G 3 rotor n/a race block weighs 319 in long block form. if you don't belive me, this site, http://www.bacomatic.org/%7Edw/txt/engfyi.htm , has all the #'s AND references for the #'s. Oh, and the LS2 would be better as they shaved even more weight off of it by increasing displacement and using lighter accessories (thinner exh. manifolds, smaller water pump, thinner plastic intake, etc.)

That also lists the NA 13B from the FC as being 337lbs. So a 20B WILL be more. There's another rotor, iron, rotor housing, a longer e-shaft, bigger manifolds, more oil, more water, etc, etc. It's been shown many times that the fully dressed LS1 is only slightly heavier than the 13B-REW. It does depend on the accesories used in each case though. AC, PS = more weight. Also, all the extra weight in the 20B will be forward of the front axle, and it'll move other weight forward too (accesories).

I'd think that a 20B NA install would weigh more and have a more forward weight distrobution than an equivalent accesories LS1 install. A powerful NA 20B would be kick ass though.

Eh... it'll depend. GtoRx7 shaved a good deal of weight off using a different intake manifold. His engine turned out lighter than an LS1. Don't forget that the twin-turbo setup is a good chunk of weight as well.

The stock 20BTT with all it's accessories will weigh more than a stock LS1 with accessories. And as pointed out above, the weight will be further forward of the front wheels. Not that I think the average person would be able to discern the difference.

As already said, the stock 20B TT and 13B TT are dogs on weight, what isnt cast-iron? LOL.On the 20B, the stock intake weighs 50lbs, the twins with manifold were 89lbs, then the waterpump at 32lbs, airpump at 12ish I think, a/c and brackets. Once I put on my 18 lb intake, 11lb waterpump from a fd, fd front cover, and 19lb header, 9lb fly, my 20b n/a is in the 335lb range. A 13B rew is uber heavy as well, but once you go single turbo, eliminate the airpump, rats nest ect. they are well in the 300-315lbs range. A n/a 13B like the renesis is about 280lbs fully dressed. These are not solid fact, but close est.
