Probably right, unless the 4-rotor project car comes alive (# of cylinders - 4) LOL

onepointone 01-22-03 09:44 PM

HOLY CRAP!!! its soo pretty

its a shame they didnt put rotary as the engine type, having that in your possetion, and not knowing??

its a very nice car, whoever gets it is very lucky.

SilverRocket 01-22-03 09:55 PM

I've seen nicer - if it's been taken such good care of, why are the wheels all marked up and the engine bay dirty? That car doesn't look all that perfect to me.

There's a guy on the Canadian forum with a 16,000 km car that looks significantly cleaner than that - vacuum packed would be the word.

Northern 7 01-22-03 10:32 PM

Looks pretty clean to me - no offence silverrocket but I don't see any engine bay dirt on this car and the wheels look to be coated with some sort of wax or grease to keep them from rusting - and I don't see any curb rash or marks. Sure you don't have a dirty monitor?;)

setzep 01-22-03 10:45 PM

I see everything silverrocket sees and more... Look at the bumper, it's a different color than the car. And how convenient the dash pic is all fuzzy. I don't believe the mileage.

357 01-22-03 10:45 PM

Lord almighty. That is positively orgasmic. I wish I had enough to buy it. :)

j9fd3s 01-22-03 11:33 PM

i believe the odometer, look at the seats.
it looks like any 20 year old car thats been sitting, its gonna need all kinds of stuff

If that is indeed a '82 with less then a 1000miles, it means it was driven 42miles per YEAR! Yikes I would be afraid to touch it, it couldn't be driven because its so low that its orginality must be preserved. Because, once it hits 1000miles, the value will drop a lot! :D

And I thought my '84 with 77,000miles was a low milage car.

yayo420 01-23-03 12:53 AM

I like that car because It looks exactly like mine......Same color same interior same options....I only wished mine was that clean and looked that good.....

unreality 01-23-03 01:05 AM

got my '85 GS with only 15,000 miles on it... 1,000 miles a year wasn't bad at all in my opinion. I'd be happy with 40 miles a year, all the same though.

Fuzzy dash picture, though.... I wonder...

Someone buy it =P

faye x7 01-23-03 01:22 AM

WOW...that is amazing.
If you guys read the details....they said the original owner had it preserved with a wax coating or sumtin. I think that's why the wheels are looking kinda odd and if you don't like the blurry dash, ask for a new pic that isn't blurry. I'm sure they'd get one for you.

inittab 01-23-03 03:58 AM

The wheels look oxidized to me and I see rusted parts in the engine bay pics. Maybe that climate controlled garage stopped working years ago. It's a shame. Plus the pedals are muddy, what's up with that? Nice car but I doubt they'll sell it on eBay.

85RX7GS 01-23-03 07:44 AM

What a cool color! A starting bid, at $5000?

Maguire 01-23-03 07:58 AM

It makes me want to convert my interior to black.

error402 01-23-03 08:41 AM

Price is too high, and I see rust in the engine bay. Look at the strut towers...it's like someone tried to clean them.

This kinda bothers me too...
http://ebay2.ipixmedia.com/abc/M28/_...1281/i-9_B.JPG

...but good god that is a nice clean interior. ;)

:mspank: dude that car is awsone i guess someone lost it in their garage and just found it :D what a find ashame i don't got any $$

xxxHondaGuyxxx 01-23-03 09:36 AM

It can EASILY be fake

I picked my car up for $3,241 US.

It's a 1984 GSL, looks MINT, with 40k miles.

My girlfriend works at the dealership, so she gave me the contact info of the previous owner.

In 1995, the car had 95,000 miles.

He installed a new engine in 2001, and I bought the car with just over 40k miles. He reset the mileage when he installed the new engine.

And, somehow, it doesn't have a salvage title? (or do you only need that when installing a different engine than stock?)

Anyways, I can go take pics of my car right now, and they look just as clean, if not cleaner than that one.

I don't expect it to even get the first bid of $5000.

lotsacars 01-23-03 11:17 AM

This is way too much corrosion for 882 miles:
http://ebay2.ipixmedia.com/abc/M28/_...81/i-9_B_L.JPG
My 84 SE with 86K has significantly less, and it's driven three seasons rain or shine. Garaged, but not heated.

...and these pedals are filthy!
http://ebay2.ipixmedia.com/abc/M28/_...81/i-4_B_L.JPG

I've been burned before by the original owner misrepresenting a car. I bought a ~120K mile 87 Buick Grand National that supposedly had 70K miles. I took it to Valvoline to get the oil changed and they gave me a full history report (which I then supplemented with area dealership repair records) and convinced him that he should buy it back from me for what I payed plus the $200 I had put into it. He agreed but wouldn't have the cash for another month. A month later (total ownership period of under three months) I had my cash and had 'excercised' the car for him to the tune of 7K miles. :)

brison 01-23-03 12:48 PM

Could the discoloring around the strut bolts be from rust proofing?

Time can lead to the oxidation on the wheels.

If this is a phoney, someone is going to alot of trouble for $5K.

What is that device under the dash?

The hatch area makes me drool!!!

82transam 01-23-03 01:16 PM

882 miles = gummed up engine, gummed up trans, rear end etc. I wouldn't pay that much for it. Low miles? so what?

Northern 7 01-23-03 01:38 PM

There's no rust on the wheels - they are sealed (the seller noted the car was sealed - the first place you would seal would be those wheels)

The strut towers are also sealed - you can see where the same color product that was used on the wheels was also used on the towers.

I would assume any bare metal was sealed on this baby before it was put away -

Tough to tell from pic's but it could very well be as nice as described - I personally wouldn't buy a car based on pic's so this debate could go on until someone SEE'S the car (and dirt on the pedals? - tough to determine anything based on that) -

SilverRocket 01-23-03 02:16 PM

You guys must smoking something harsh to think those wheels are sealed/waxed/whatever. What you see in those pictures is the degradation that happens to FB aluminium wheels after years of driving - I thought everyone here would have seen that on their own car!!

I've seen that on the wheels of many FB's that haven't had their wheels refinished. But on the really nice low mileage cars that I've seen, the wheels have been much nicer than what I see in that pic.

Moreover, those wheels sorta look like they have circular scratch marks on them to me, something more than the normal marks - like someone tried to remove the oxidation with a coarse steel wool pad or something. One thing I can tell you is that those most definitely are not mint low mileage rims.

The engine bay looks like it was filthy and someone has cleaned it - but not very carefully, since they left dirt/rust around various areas.

Another thing is that the original Mazda battery is not in the car - don't you think it would be after only 800 miles???

The interior is seriously no big deal either - my car has 130,000 kms on it, and my interior is every bit as clean as that one is. When I first got my car at 65,000kms, the interior was significantly cleaner than the one in that picture.

What the hell is that thing under the choke? That isn't stock, whatever it is. Looks like some sort of device to alter the mileage hahahahha.

Anyways, the point is, there are lots of suspicious things in that picture, and if that car actually has low mileage (which I really doubt), it's hasn't been taken great care of, and there have been attempts to clean it up to make it look nicer than it did before. It also isn't completely stock, as a $5k 800 mile car should absolutely be.

I wouldn't touch it personally:)

there is no way a battery will last 20 years.

MyRxBad 01-23-03 02:46 PM

Those aren't the original tires on it either. (maybe tire rot?)
I think that monstrosity under the dash controls that horn thing on the passenger side in the engine bay.

It already has 1 bid.
