Let me see how i like it, besides, even if it is junk it's a $600 commuter car for college. I have to drive about 90 miles round trip to school every week.

No, i haven't driven a swift before, but the owners of them seem very pleased with their cars. A GTi is a quicker car stock for stock than a 12a.
Honduh owners seem pleased with their cars... need I say more?

I'd be pleased with a honda too, they're great cars. Here's pictures of the Admin's car from redlinegti.com http://www.redlinegti.com/view.php?id=37

Actually... yes, Honda's are nice cars. They can be made to go fast, and they really aren't as inferior as we all wish they were. They've been labeled ricer cars simply because of the hype that they inevitably drag along with them.

However, that's not the point.

If you want to buy an economy car for commuting, no one's going to rag on you for that. If you seriously think that this "tin can with wheels" is going to satisfy your cravings for a nice car, forget it.

Do what you want, just stay loyal to the seven.

I dunno man... it just seems liek taking a step backwards. My last car was a 1987 Corolla FX16... and i transplanted an 88 Redtop into it (pretty much teh same engine it already had in it but i blew the bluetop). Man that car was quick... fun... hi revving... loud... light... unsafe... unreliable... non-classy car. Sure it was almost as fast as my 7... but it is the point of i went from tin can (not nearly as bad as a swift but same concept) to a well built sturdy strong car with reliability and sleek RWD fun. Once i got my 7 all my friends now want to sell their 200sx's... integras... jettas... honduhs... JUST because they saw the RWD alone. They don't even have any idea how great a Rotary engine is.
Your life. Your car. Your opinion. And i understand your hunger for change because of your beat up 7... but i don't know... it seems a step backwards.

I love the Swift GTI's. I drove one over in Australia.. DOHC 16v with 8k redline. Really moved good.

Im thinkin about a Mr2 Mk1 for my next car. I think they look better than the first gen IMO and they are slightly lighter. Rear engine, drop a TII in it It would be a very fun car. One of my personal dreams anyways.. Ide like to hear what some of you think.

O 16581 72452 5, I understand your plight. You have limited funds, and this seems like a fun little commuter.
I am sure they are relaible and fun because they are light. The first metro/swift came in turbo form also.
Now for the bad news. GM owns Suzuki. But that isn't too bad, since just because GM oens Suzuki doesn't mean all their products have GM sourced parts. But maybe they should use GM parts, since Suzuki parts are quite expensive.
Ok, the other porblem. The Metro/Swift that had the GTi model (early 90's) was rated as HORRIBLE in crash tests- the worst in safety for any modern car.
Just keep that in mind when you drive it in traffic.
Anywho, I know where a GTX is sitting that just needs a turbo- for cheap.

Still, for $600, anything that runs good and isn't embarrasing looking is a good good deal. Or is it embarrasing looking?

Buy the Swift, and then do something crazy like the Festiva "race car".......the SHOgun.

They are crazy little cars. It's a custom made widebody Festiva, with a modifed Taurus 3.0 L SHO engine mounted in the REAR! It's a RWD monster...

.....and to tell you how crazy they are........Jay Leno owns one.

They're quick as ****, but that all depends on how quick you ****, right?

I know a guy with one and apparently it's pretty damn fast. Looks great too, but not better than a seven.

That number is the total allowed vehicle weight when fully loaded. With Gas, People, gear, etc. The car is more like 2400 lbs.

No more than a Japanese buillt Mazda is a Ford. GM purchased a controlling stock in Suzuki auto for the same reasons Ford purchased a controlling share of Mazda and DailerChrysler purchased a controlling share of Mitsubishi= for cheap quality parts to put in their vehicles (or rebadge the vehicles as theirs), not to sell their products as the Japanese products. But everybody does know that GM purchased Deawoo, and GM restyled the Deawoo line and will be selling them as Suzukis.

I was thinking 16v and it came out as 1.6, i got my numbers mixed up a bit. I just feel i'll be happier with this car than my 7, it's more to my taste.

I want FWD, they might not be as good for handling, but they more than make up for it on snow and ice.

Yeah i grew up on club4ag... that place is awesome.
The AE86 Corolla's (85-87 corollas) are RWD and teh GT-S's come with the 4ag 16v engine. Lightweight... dependable, RWD, hi revven... great fun cars.
The FX16 is teh same car only it is hatchback like a civic only it is FWD.
Let me get this straight though... you are raggin on about a SUZUKI SWIFT and you don't like corollas... wow. i mean... WOW.
