...yet another no-start thread...
Sorry, but I've been researching this for weeks and after hours and hours of work on the car it's still not starting.
Here's what I have: I have fuel to the carb, but will only start when I put a bit of gas directly into the carb. The car has a header on it and I'm thinking there's a vacuum leak somewhere, but I can't find one now after plugging everything I could plug that was open. The header changes things from the searches I've seen. The carb was supposedly rebuilt by the PO. My biggest question is what I can do to the iidle compensator that doesn't have anything plugged into it. Instead of a pipe coming down from that into the vacuum switch, there's nothing there. The vacuum switch has the pipe that would go to the idle compensator going to something that's between the two oil supply pipes and the other one goes to the purge valve like it's supposed to. Forgive the long-winded post, but I'm at a loss.... Thanks, Stan |
Never mind....
I got it started by NOT pressing on the accelerator pedal, but after it starts I have to keep giving it pedal to keep it running. I'll try to adjust the idle speed tomorrow. |
did you do a soft reset on the idle air mixture?
|
No I haven't done that (or even heard of it...).
I'm checking all of the linkages to see if the PO (who rebuilt the carb) didn't hook something up correctly when he put it back on. For example, the hot start assist runs constantly when I plug it in. That can't be good. thanks for your input, Stan |
